Infact, thinking about it, they are not all like it - as my old 1996 and 1999 Rover 214's where absolutely fine. The last 200 I had - a 1998 216SLI was a little resistant getting in to certain gears, but it was high mileage (121k) and the clutch was on its way out.
However, this year 2000 Rover 25 I have picked up for my girlfriend has done less than 60k miles (59k) and it is sometimes resistant going into gears. It has been like it since I picked it up with 57k miles on the clock. It has the usual reverse gear selection 'trait' where you have to lift the clutch up slightly for it to engage (something a lot of R65's do) but also sometimes refuses to go into first gear when stationary - have to put into neatrul, lift off clutch and try again. Whilst driving it is ok, but seems a bit resistant going in to all gears.
It cant be the clutch with just 59k on the clock, can it?
Would a gearbox oil change help?
