Time for a Rant!!!

My insurance on my baby is due in a fortnight.

i am 29 4 years ncb ( but no claims or anythign for a decade) with my 54 Reg 190.

last year i paid just over £500 for a year with about £250-£300 excess.

This year the only change is i have an extra years no claims.

SO WHY THE F*** has my renewal come through at £1050?????

cheapest quote i have obtained is £450 with an £800 EXCESS.... and no insurance company can tell me why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF

All insurance providers are criminals... the goverment forces us to have insurance to drive our vehicles on the road we have already paid tax for and these B***ards are milking us for every penny they can and need to be lined up and shot!!!!!!:eek:verkill:
if i drove without insurance (not that i will) and got a £500 fine it would be cheaper than insuring my car!!!!!! logical i think not!!!!!!!!!!

Rant over frustration vented slightly.. for now..

have already told them what i think and where they can go... even offered to draw a diagram if they are having problems with directions :hysteria:

best realistic quote so far £550 with £500 excess which is still more than last year and the excess has doubled .... i am now at point where i cant actually go into an insurance company to get a quote as i would not be responsible for my actions.

what can we do they have u sby the B***S

Uninsured drivers is more than just a fine, big points also and any damages caused via accidents are usually persued, people claiming whiplash etc at the slightest chance and garages ripping the cost of repairs overestimating on jobs they know will never be checked out before authorisation.

Theres a few reasons we all get screwed over.

Not sure if this is true or not but... When getting multiple quotes for insurance, word gets around that you are looking for insurance and they all get to know about it, possibly with ramifications about the price. I think the same thing applies if you are looking for credit to buy a car as well.

Big brother maybe watching???

Don't know if it helps but I renewed my 190 in May with Quoteline Direct for £371 and £250 excess (£150 voluntary). They have been the best for me for the last 3 years. Granted that is with 9+ years protected NCB but could be worth a call?!? My other quotes at the time ranged from £500 to £1200!

Whatever you pay if you don't make a claim that is money down the drain over the years I have poured thousands and thousands down that drain and only have pieces of paper and peace of mind to show for it so I have no interest in the excess I just want to pay as little as possible.

No doubt my contributions have covered the cost that many a Joy rider has inflicted so I really feel better for that ......................

That is the way of the world though if you can be held accountable and have something to loose job home etc then you have to pay for that privilege.

As for the OP FYI the MG classifies as a classic car if you can accept a limited mileage policy and don't want business travel, pump some variations into the Lancaster classic policy site or try Footman James
I had my ZT260 insured with Lancaster a £270 and I now have my 325i cabriolet with them at £124

Try Norwich Union direct, my Quote just under £400, full no claims, full comp with £150 excess, including legal cover.
Has gone to £75 from £60 windsceen excess, only change from last year.
I am a heck of a lot older than you though!!! but that is supposed to raise premiums also

Did a search using moneysupermarkets could not get a better quote on above terms
AA just beat it but wanted £450 excess
Try your luck

Unles your insurance circumstances have changed significantly in the last year (fines, points, change of address, additional drivers, third party to fully comp?) there is no way on earth the premium can have nearly doubled?

I have two cars insured and both policies have come down again this year (admittedly i am 39 and wife is 37 so we have a few years on you but even so!)

This is exactly my point not one single thing has changed no fines/points/claims additional drivers change in level of insurance or change of address!!! the ONLY difference is i am a year older with an extra years no claims bonus. asked for explanation.. couldnt give me one....

Swift cover have been the best for me by far for my ZT; fair enough it is only the 120 but some other quites (Direct Line, Tesco's, Virgin and all other major companies via confused.com and moneysupermarket.com) were stupid!

Heck I drive a highly tuned N/A Integra DC5 as well and the insurance for that is only £400 a year plus £250 excess and that's with EVERY MOD declared (everything from hard-race bushes to engine internals etc...)!!!

Some insurance companies need their bumps reading!!! Either that or some more bumps added and I'll gladly offer my services for that ;)
