However, having just done a search for it, I found that it appears to be the same as deadlocking!

"The MGF has remote-control "superlocking" (deadlocking) and an engine immobiliser. The alarm protects the car even while the hood is down, and the stereo has a removable front panel. The boot can only be opened by the key, and the bonnet can only be opened from inside the boot, giving the MGF a high level of security as standard. "

HTH :)

As far as I know, superlocking is to do with locking the lock. The little lock stub in the doors is latched in place to prevent opening the locks via a broken window.

The new 2003 models of ZR have superlocks fitted to all 3 doors - you can activate them by double clicking the lock button on your remote.

I have them on my new 160 - you hear the locks click as normal and then a further click as the superlocking is enabled. Very sweet! :bgrin:

I'd be interested to discuss the other security mods as it looks like MGR have done a good job in bringing the car up to Thatcham 1.

Dave - I believe you can get some of the lock upgrades as an aftermarket kit - is that true?

That'll be the baby.

Why it can't be the standard lock mode I don't know.

After finding out a little more about it and assuming superlocking is the same as deadlocking.....

The reason it can't be the normal lock mode is for safety.... If you've superlocked the car while there is still someone inside for example there is no way to get out ( other than the window, but thats no good if you have electric windows.... )

My cousin's MK4 ARSE-TRA has the same feature.... you can't even dead-lock that until the driver's door has been opened.... how stupid.... you just open the door... don't get out... shut it... then Deadlock it.... Vau*hall are stupid some times! :D

Dead locks went on my mates cavalier once. We were at a petrol station and couldn't unlock the car, which had been deadlocked, so called the rac who got in via the boot and opened the windows. The switch inside the door had buggered so couldn't unlock the doors. Had to get in ala Dukes of Hazard Stylee, then drive home with the windows open (just in case we had a smack, according to the RAC bloke). Once home smacked the inside of a door with a mallet and it popped it.

Superlocking

Hi. New here, but here goes.

We have Superlocking on our 75. It activates automatically with the remote, but not from the lock button inside the car. When it's activated, the inner door handles become inoperative, and the handbook states not to do it, if there's someone in the car.

Hope that helps.
