Project FOXy
Thought i would share my new project with the forum.
Bought a Streetwise 2.0 TD 47k on clock.
First impressions when she was at home:
Engine is solid, powerful and responsive. Paintwork needs some attention
Bumper corners need a little work to smooth out the scrapes. drivers side is bad.
Previous owner lived in the country Totnes way. This was obvious by the brown film
inside and around the door rubbers.
Engine is very clean, and the wheel arches have had a very good clean(steam?)
Things to do...
Remove the towbar, dont want it, looks awful on the SW and im sick of bashing shins on it lol.
(soon be for sale in the sale section) DONE all removed and crash cans fitted
(thanks to Dave for cans(he who has pooed at pauls!)
Buy and fit fully working TM clock with no dead pixels......DONE thanks to R25Silver
(dont know where hes pooed) lol
Remove awful looking crackes, full of drill holes aftermarket spoiler
Fit Autoart black magic lexus lights
Although the Aircon is nice...investigate fitting an electric sunroof :)
Other bits n pieces from scrappy required to enhance car.
pics to follow.....
Meanwhile...i need to find out if i can remove the gearstick and find out why it rattles!
Sat 4 june will see oil filter, air filter and oil change.
hopefully weekend after that new fuel filter, water pump, alt belt and timing belts fitted
End of june replace new goodyear 205/50/16 with Pireilli P6000 205/55/16.

still to do

Had a looksie to see why i had on orange and black/pink wire protruding through the boot grommet....it is a new connection put in for the tailgate locking mechanism....a peel back showed the rover problem of crackes wires in the grommet....so visit scrappy on Friday get the whole loom to make extension and repairs to all wires.

Also...get and fit electric mirrors .... tenner each from scrappy...already have the switch fitted...how did that get in my pocket??

locate a CR80 radio/cassette with the silver and black facia..yeah i know they were problematic..but want to try n swap facia over for my CD80 cd player/radio

investigate the becker satellite navigation i have seen in the SW brochure.

Buy MG mirror with lights off ebay and fit.

thats all for now folks...thanks for looking...comments, sarcasm welcome...as well as ideas and help...especially on gearstick rattle WELCOME..Mikky

The spoiler in the photograph is an OEM item, it is a cover for the plain black spoiler and they are held on with trim tape and 4 stainless steel screws.
I also prefer this option rather than the ZR spoiler for a Streetwise

mon 6 june updates

just did the oil change, new oil filter and air filter on both cars.
Didnt have luck with the electric mirrors, i think i took them of a 45...but the fitment was completely different....managed to take apart the motor bit hoping to just swap bases...but having managed to get the base separated from the main bit...theres a spring under a washer, i think its called a compression washer?..anyway theres no way i can compress the spring back....so ive got spare mirrors!! 20 quic wasted...but cheaper than two new mirrors!! Ordered some proper ones off ebay..

Have fitted the rear headrests.....and rear passenger handrails/coat hooks:

repaired the rear loom

wondering why i had an orange and a black with pink wire poking through the wiring gromet...i did some investigation and found that it was an addon to the boot locking mechanism with the proper wires cut off...anyway my rear wiper decided not to park anymore...Ah Ha! the rover cracked boot wires syndrome...peeled back the gromet but could not see the problem...so carefully pulling and slicing the gromet off with a stanley knife i found the problem....

(i quick repaired a couple of wires for a trip to Halfords for a Crimper)

(i know the hing looks a bit untidy..was heavy handed with the silver Hammerite..will be rubbed down a little and proper MBB paint applied)

Arrived home...cut an extra length of wire from the loom i removed from a 25 at scrappy...and pushed through a new gromet....butt connectors fitted ready for attachment....

Oppsie..only 8 wires here....hmm.. what are the others....the right hand rear window demister....redid...and crimp fitted.....final product looks normal without wires poking through....reconnected the original pink and orange wires for the boot locking mechanism...all working great now...just i put the gromet on upside down lol

my boys m8 busy moving house...so hopefully first week of July will see the new timing belt, waterpump, fuelpump and alt belt done....then just a case of touching up the bad paintwork and maybe try a T-Cut...not sure if can do on metallic....scratches down the sided from life in the country and the roof from using roofracks!!..

the electirc door mirrors are already factory fitted ready for...

having already ordered a MGTF rear view mirror with lights...there was one at the scrappy....grrr...anyway..i took the male yellow plug with the full run of 3 wires from across the top and down the right hand a frame...so that will be easy to do :) the electric door mirrors control switch already in situ..
