It confuses me, how do you get the 3 and the 5 to look good, but the 6 looks so ugly?? Different designers?

Will say though, give me a 5 with 18" alloys a powerful (160-180) diesal engine, and I'll be in your showroom the next day

 

 

To me it looks like a facelifted Astra which is no bad thing as Vauxhall design is very good these days.

With the right wheels and jewellery it will be excellent.

 

Front fine, side profile ok, back just doesnt look right, looks like the designer gave up. Give me the MG6 anyday over that.

 

It needs a different rear bumper.... seeing as they gave the Magnette a different bumper over the 550 for the UK market i see no reason why they couldnt or wouldnt for the 5 as well

 

Im pleased with the pictures of it tbh, it looks pretty bloody good imho, but we need it over here quickly, this is car that is needed now not in 12 or 18 months or however long it will take to release it here.

Lets hope MG are pulling out all the stops to get the derv 6 and other new engines over here, along with the 3 and 5 with other engines, the quicker they can do that the more dealers will be interested, the more people will be interested and the more cars they will shift imho.

SAIC are in for the long haul tho and the UK is a fairly minor market for them, dont see that they will be in any great rush.... no matter how much we might want it

 

still not keen on it, but it is a true MG, they even provide a roll of duck tape, and it fits in a holder in the centre console.

 

It doesn't help that the only photo of the rear is taken from the viewpoint of a small dog.

 

If the pictures are 100% genuine, then I have to say very impressed and just what MG needs. An attractive car that WILL attract customers, not every customer, but many.

A word of caution though - the purple car pics appear rather oddly clear given how grainy the wall and general surroundings are behind it....

I think it looks great. IMHO better than most of the oppsition - Honda, Toyota, Vauxhall and Ford included.

Maybe they will advertise this one unlike the poor abandoned 6!

 

If I were allowed to give the design a score out of ten I'd give the following:

Front end: 8/10
Mid section: 6/10
Rear: 3/10
Interior: 6/10

Front looks very good. Mid section is ok. The rear is pants as far as I can see in the one pic that shows it. Interior is ok but nothing original or hasn't been seen already. Overall I prefer what I've seen of the 6 and 3. But it's not bad, and that seems to be what sells these days, inoffensive and "not bad" designs.

I think you're being generous with that rear!

 

I prefer the 6. The side profile of the 5 reminds me of the Toyota Auris and the rear looks a bit soft, the alloys are small as usual which doesnt help. I think I'll wait to see in in the metal in UK showrooms.

 

Iirc patrick you don't like the mk2's either? Explains why you like the 6 I suppose.

The backend doesn't feel right to me, reminds me of a fiat stilo which was originally released about 11 year ago.

The 6 looks the best, then the 5, followed by the 3.

 

The 6 looks good in black, i bet the 3 & 5 will aswell with better wheels

Must be me, but in my opinion that it 1 ugly looking car.
Its embarrassing to wear the MG badge.

Looks like a Civic and a Hyundai have had an illegitimate child that's took more of the Hyundai DNA. Better front end than the MG6 but looks wrong with those wheels on it, high suspension and 5-door shutline ruining the rear 1/4 area.

Must get bigger wheels and must get a 3-door model unless MG want to be the OAP brand of choice in future... over to you SAIC...
