i just bought my 3dr 1.4is (103) yesterday. I am so pleased with it, its an x reg in Silver with 57k on the clock. cant stop driving it, the acceleration is amazing for an engine its size, ive already beaten my mates 1.6 astra sxi, muahahahah.

its a lovely car with alot of kit, electric sunroof and windows, fully adjust seat, the nice blue seat trim, its doesnt have air con or abs which i would have liked. The previous owner spent 400 quid on it before he sold it to the dealer, new head unit, new cam belt, new power steering belt and pump, new head gasket, various other little bits and pieces. so im hoping touch wood it will be fairly trouble free. pretty good for 1600 quid!!! there are a few things i want to do to to improve it

1. i like the alloys but the previous owner seemed to like curbs to much so there a bit crap, so A. get these reconed or B. get some 17inch mg alloys

2. the interior is nice but i think i might get on of these kits where you can cover the trim with a more modern carbon fibre plastic, not sure about these, anyone had an expirience?

3. Twin exahaust back box, this may be the first thing.

4. windows tinted, but not blacked out!!!!

i have been loving reading through the forum, any feedback on my car would be great!!!

Welcome to the forums

Looks good mate ;)

I would get mg alloys personally, then get the exhaust backbox and then the tints. Is this your first Rover? What are your first impressions compared to previous cars your have driven?

Alot of people have negative opinions about Rovers, its good to see someone is happy with theirs :)

there great cars,, ive driven both R200 R25 and my current car Zr 1.4

all great and nippy..but if ya wana make it go faster, put a R56 or R65 gear box in (not sure if it was 56 or 65) from the Zeds.. will make sure car fly.

its R65 and iirc the 1.4 has the R65 gear box, the 1.8's had a PG1 gear box, not sure if thats what you meant, but they arnt on all ZR's just the 1.8's, the later ZR's had a different gear box completly

im 22 passed test 6 months ago, so quite a late to start driving. The car i had before this was a 93 Fiesta mk3 1.1 so as you can imagine this is a million times better. i have not driven many car in my life but here they are in ranking order

1. Mini cooper- just stunning to drive, overpriced and no space in the back!
2. Rover 25 1.4 - The car i have now, bit down on power compared to mini but just as good handling i would say!!!
3. Astra si 1.6 16v- My mums car, very quick, handling not so good.
4. 206 diesel- Pretty rough and rubbish!
5. Fiesta 1.1- its been rock steady, but just a car..

dont think i will be changing the gear box, i like the idea of de chroming and colour coding, how would you go about doin that???

I parked mine next to silver 3dr mg xr yesterday, think a zr will be my next car. Seriously for a 1.4, how did they get the power? Are there any other 1.4 cars that can compete? I lauged at my mate yesterday, his astra falls in the higher tax band, 90 quid for 6 months, compared with 60 for my rover. think the wood dash is gonna have to go!!!

i bought a 1.4 IS '02 about a month ago and yeah im so please with it aswell! i think its a good thing that people are negative towards rover, because they down the price, and there will be less competition, which is a good thing to people who know what rovers, especially the 25's are all about!!

i love how they are usually first owned by people who are over 50, they dont thrash them and they keep them nice. which means there are alot of used 25's in lovely nick!! i was going to get a saxo vtr, but i could not find one that had not been thrashed to death or chavved up!!!!

Good, you wouldn't have liked the saxo, in the time i owned mine i had too many things go wrong with it (it was only a 2000 reg) and the pedals were far too close together... i gave that to my girlfriend, cause that's the kind of car a saxo is, a girls car.

:chav:
The 25 and ZR share the same boxes. Only the ZR160 and 25GTI had a PG1 box IIRC, and sticking that box on anything smaller would be pointless.
If you want some good advice, leave the car as close to standard as possible...belive it or not, they are getting rather rare as most seemed to be "ZR'd".... ;)

Daveor, the vectra SRI tag just refers to trim levels.
It's still a :chav: mobile.
YTL, I'm actually finding it kinda fun at the minute, I seem to own the only 25 in MILES of here, there's bucket loads of ZR's though. Keep going chavers, cus your making my motor rare!

lol I do see more and more ZRs about, weather they are 25 conversions or not, I cant really tell from the outside but then thats just it.....They turned their normal everyday car into another normal everyday car. I love my Rover and that what it is and so thats how its staying :D

That looks a nice car.

I have often thought the 25 (and the 45, for that matter) can varey a great deal. There are some 25's around that are not very nice...some look dated, have plastic wheel trims and windy windows, not very nice looking seats, and a horrid tacky plastic wood trim etc. yet others can look really nice indeed with nice looking seats and interior, a nice colour with alloy wheels etc. they look very smart indeed.

^^^^^^
I would agree. The bubble shape itself looks very nice if its been looked after and had some money spent on it, but driving around I do see a lot of cars with plastic wheel trims and dirty body work and it always makes me happy just to see how far my own car has come from stock :D

BUT
I am DEFINITELY a fan of the fake wooden trims. If the steering wheels with the wooden trims werent so damn expensive, I would get one!

But there are nice looking STANDARD 200's and 25's as well, just lots of base spec tatty ones to let the image/nice cars down.

And I usually like the wood trim, but there is a specific type which was used sometimes on some 25's that looked horrible.

I see what you mean, my 200 when I brought it, was standard. But being the IS edition, came with alloys and the half leather purple interior with carpets to match and some fog lights. That was the only cosmetic difference I could see on the outside. I can appreciate your point though, but I guess the more I look at my own car, the bigger my head gets for thinking, ITS THE COOLEST 200 OUT THERE :D

I know people will disagree with me though. If so I dont care :flipa:

Our 25 (2000 and just 25.8k miles) is going so well since changing the petrol with the Tin pellet fuel cat inthe tank which lowers the burn temp of unleaded by almost 200 C ! this prevents head troubles and boosts power by 20% or mileage by 25% ! With the Power Magnet as well, we get 45mpg or 210 miles from ÂŁ20. we have also seen 117mph when on the air strip. All this from 1400cc. These mods do NOT affect insurance, OK.
