Hi All

been a member a while (rover 45)

now own MG SVR Vin 118, yes the car that starred on 19th December Top Gear 2003!
Prototype SVR 5.0 litre (Jeremy got it wrong at 4.6), as the SVR was not announced untill April 2004.
stunning car, and a pleasure to own.

hi

thanx all.

yes, i bought it from the receivers agents Wyles and Hardy after long negotiation.

i wanted it for its history and uniqueness, and of course the power is fantastic.

just cannot understand why some people dislike them especially on these forums.
and of course mine took revenge on Jeremy Clarksons head!!

i think all the MG Z range are great, and the great build quality of the Rover 45 i had makes the citroen picasso i have now look very poor.

Regards

hi

yes the Rover 45 had only 24k miles on and through trade was a bargain.

the SVR gearbox is stiff and takes geting used to, certainly have to wait 5 minutes to warm up. as far as i know it is the same box on it.

and the clutch has to be full down, and i mean full, right at the bottom (clutch is self adjusting), maybe Jeremy was not used to it!

i have never hit my head on the carbon fibre though!.

hi

thankyou

yes makes me smile when i open the garage, get in and drive!.

is 5 litre V8 (Sean Hyland in the states modified 4.6 engine)

reputedly pushing 400 HP (but i have not checked).

Spoke (via email) to an ex MG worker and he said my car was used to test engine performance parts after Top Gear filming.
Originally built for Peter Stevens (cars designer), but used for Top Gear as it was the first 5 litre, and has prototype dash, seats etc.

video on youtube under 'too much fun in an MG' or search for MG SV

i cannot understand how some people do not rate them, gets more looks than a lambo or ferrari!

thanx

Steve
