Saw an article the other day that they are looking at this 3D printing technology which will allow them to make many parts on site at the dealers.

 

tell me about it, i have had a paintstick on order since June, and i am still awaiting, they now tell me it may arrive sometime in NOVEMBER (for the other car)

Things can not have gone back down hill when I still worked at a Rover dealer about 8 weeks ago 90% of parts wear next day unless they wear special order stuff like Monogram.

 

Yep, tell me about it. I'm still waiting after 8 weeks for a Biomorphic, near side, rear, external door handle...

I'm going to have to call the dealer (Souls in Olney) on Monday and tell them if it isn't there soon then they'll have to forget it and I'll order it from somewhere else (I finish working in MK after Christmas...)

 

Why not get a handle in primer and order some paint as well, then get a bodyshop to do it?

I know you shouldnt need to, but its a solution.

It is Pearl Black, i have tried numerous dealers and even the shop on site at Longbridge and they all say the same thing... no... and this has been going on for months... i am getting concerned as i need to touch in a few chips that have gone to the metalwork, and if i dont get them done sooner rather than later then we all know the dreaded rust will take hold and MGR will not honour the rust warranty as they will say i have not treated it soon ebnough...

 

My mate got some Pearl Black no problem. Can't remember if it was Gledhills, Clemo or Perrys though... soz not much use.

BTW Gledhills of Ossett always got me parts for my ZS the next day. I never ever waited for a part

Please tell me how he got a paint stick for a pearl black colour as i have been "relaibly" informed that this colour has not been available at all, ever... and this was from Longbridge..

 

I have to say I have never had problems with parts, usually in stock or within a few days. Having said that its not exactly major parts I have ordered ...

Yeah, apparently its not listed on the parts system yet...

 

this is just going to get worse as i was speaking to a designer who works for rover who said most of the designs for the missing parts have been lost so they cant be given to the new parts supplier for manufacture purposses

 

As long as I get my part before the car catches fire that's ok by me, although people refuse a lift now because of the intoxicating burning smell......

It came in a small tub with brush. Was mixed on site

Everytime I go into the dealers, the important part I want is on back-order...

Last time I waited 7 months, and I have a feeling either my Turbo will give up, or the oil that spills onto the exhaust, and causes smoke to come out of the bonnet, will ignite, and burn me alive...

Come on MGR... I was told this problem was sorted. My car is gonna catch fire if you don't pull your finger out!!!

Pearl Black paint........got a twin pack (pearl black & clear lacquer) in a small box marked "touch up paint pencil set, part number, AWZ 000370" with my car from Croall Bryson at Kelso,

God this is old... got it sorted ages ago.....

They replaced the Head Gasket, but DIDN'T replace the oil feed return pipe on the Turbo, which should be replace (accoring to RAVE)...

Anyway, I now have a quiet Turbo, and no oil leak (and have had for about 20k miles)....
