The ZT really needs a 6 speeder - other marques have fitted them to much lesser cars - come on MGR!

 

This is a bit lame, but I read something this week about a company working on a new gearbox system that effectively made changes instantaneously (they were about to trial it against dual clutch TT).

It COULD be retrofitted, but could also be designed intot he gearbox, giving a lighter unit. Of course the obligitary 'several motor manufacturers' were in discussions.

I wouldered if MGR could be involved, and if this might be why we have no six-speeders yet..

Did anyone else pick this up, BTW?

 

Yes every man and his dog say this, most are totally useless!
When i read up on the VW TT Duel clutch system i kicked my self because i have a 1950's Ward lathe that works using the same thinking!

Toyota have a 3 clutch system, that can NEVER be caught out and they are "In bed" with Lotus, who they might "Try" systems out on before full production world wide.

But can MGR do anything, could they buy in a system? Rather than piss all that effort and cash on the SV.

IIRC, the lower spec SV has a 5spd, all the rest have 6spd. The V8 ZTs have 6. (I know the 385 has, not 100% sure about the 260).

 

One mod I've got planned for after the 2 year warranty is up.. is the 6-speed sequential box. Yummy.

Red mega, i was turning right to goto halfords, the type R was next to me at the lights going straight on (opposite the paradox) as if it was going to the ASDA/Switch island.

 

When MGR finally ditch the Midland Gear 'box then I wouldn't be too surprised if we saw 6 speed boxes in some MGR models. IIRC this was mentioned elsewhere on the web at one point too - though for the life of me can't remember where

Brace project going fine, a member of MGOC is sending me measurements for the rear ZR brace. Thought of a brill way to fit/unfit it in under 30 secs.
