the top one belonged to a guy called suggs on the mgzr forum, he has unbelievable fibreglassing skills, from what I picked up from his posts it was all his own work and was top quality. I really like it to be honest and dnt think it should be in this worst car thread!!!

That one isn't too bad, swap the front bumper for a stock ZR one, take away MOST of the garish lights and it would be a nice white Zr.

i suppose it boils down to your own tastes (as always when these threads pop up)

i look at quality as opposed to taste but sometimes i have to slap myself back to reality eg the 2 ZR/25's look to be better finished with more effort on presentation than the 400 which just looks like your average chav has been let lose in halfords with ÂŁ100 without any thought on quality of finish etc

Whilst not to my tastes, I prefer 'low' profile driving rather than "Look at me officer, I'm well fast", I have admiration for the amount of clever work which went into that car's preparation.

The buliding 'towers' in the top right of that picture also interest me. Looks like they maybe AirShaft Towers sometimes placed over vents in long Railway Tunnels. Anyone know what those buildings are ? ~ looks like a Victorian Industrial Site.... always find old industrial sites interesting.

Back in the 1990s, along with my then very young son and a few friends, we had a conducted tour of ... wait for it ... Scunthorpe Steel Works.... I went along just for the ride .... not knowing what to expect. Glad I did. What a place, they have over one hundred miles of railway tracks on that site and we had an industrial steam shunter locomotive take us around the site ~ it was pulling two ex-BR passenger carriages. I took numerous pictures and towards the end of the tour, our guide instructed us that photography was not allowed...by that time I had exposed two 36 frame films. I guess environment issues play a part here as well as restricted commercial information.

As sometimes happens with anything 'spur of the moment' unplanned, it was one of the most unexpectedly enjoyable and informative days ~ if this industrial site has not been wound down to a shadow of its former self like so many other segments of British Industry ... and they still conduct official tour visits, well worth going for anyone with an interest in our diminishing industrail heritage, I can recommend such a tour.

The scale of that operation is quite simply ... astonishing. Ten years before... about 1982 when the still 'new' Austin and newly arrived MG Metros were much more highly regarded, I had a conducted tour of Longbridge ... anothe day well spent for anyone with an interest in Automotive and British Industry. Again, the scale of the site and operation was a real eye opener ... all mostly now gone.

Yes, not for the first time, MGJohn's gorn orf at a steep tangerine again... ... serves the OP right for posting such an interesting picture .... ;)

the railtours are still going john, photography is now allowed (i think - we went on it a few years back now) they do a "normal" tour and the "brake van" tour the second being longer timewise and with it lacking the carriages it can get into all the nooks and crannies....

and they still have all four blastfurnaces (the "Queens" mary, bess, anne & victoria [yes, i had to look them up!]) of which AFAIK 3 are running at the moment.

Now then that white one .... is that the inspiration for the new range rover

As has already been said , looks horrible but well executed (the mg not the RR )

John IIRC the owner was a welshman if that helps narrow down the pics for you

the orange one ...well if you stick your hand onto the pc screen half wayt across the bonnet it looks fantastic , take your hand away again and it magically transforms into a catfish with dale wintons genes .

a couple of the worst ones I've seen (sorry cant be ersed looking for pics just now ) were the black and yellow R8 wedge 200 with rear lights from a bus and arches from a vitara grafted on .

this was followed in the vileness stakes by an R3 200 that someone had replaced the rear bench with 2 top of the range racing seats bur left the front seats as standard .

it was patently obvious that they had bought said seats for the front then realised that A) they were fixed back racing buckets and B) they only had a 3 door car , oh well waste not want not , andy

I'd say the owner is clearly preparing for the zombie apocalypse and he therefore scores points just for that.

Incidentally, has anyone here seen or embraced the fad for car wrapping? My mate had his Range Rover done in matt black. But to me it just looks like a way of hiding corrosion problems until it's too late.

One mans monstrosity is another mans pride and joy.

While you may not like the end result they represent many hours hard work and show what the owner is capable of.

Having worked for Fletchers in Birmingham I am vastly skilled at keeping a straight face when being presented with something my 9 year old nephew could have done a better job of...

I once remember a 306 with 6 6" tailpipes or my own fave was an old Merc 190 with a full bodykit and a mesh grill. It truly looked like a school project from a primary school but the owner loved it and drove everywhere imagining people were looking at him........which they were and laughing!
