Windscreen wiper arm position

When lifting the wiper arms to clean car/screen the passenger side one scrapes the bonnet as you lift it. I have just had it in at the dealers and when I picked it up I was told all the HS models they had were the same, implying that was how it is meant to be. My response was 'rubbish, no car I have ever had was like that' and promptly went to other non MG's they had and none did it. Asked them to report it to MG as I believe it is a design/manufacturing fault, but not convinced they will.

So anyone else have this with their HS?

You bought new? You trust anything a dealership says? hmm, why did you buy a new ca....nvm Any car can have that issue. Wiper arms can be very tricky to get back into the right position if modified, removed, or even if they have had the blade changed by the "Paris" at that "gas" station you popped into. It is a simple trial and error that get's more difficult with the age of the car due to wear and tear. With a wrench and a smile, I hope you find the right position for your windscreen needs.

They don't, but let me clarify. Lifting the arm when in the 'parked' postion it scrapes the bonnet. You shouldn't have to put in service mode just to clean the screen. No car I have ever had - and in near on 50 years of driving I've had a few - have I seen this. If this is a problem with all HS's then there could be a lot with paint damage over time, particularily with those owners who don't clean the car themselves and use the many hand car washes around.

Interesting that your ZS is the same. I doubt if it has been picked up (yet) but a thought crossed my mind - wonder if it has anything to do with with whether its a LHD or RHD?
I seem to remember some mfrs had issues with all sorts of stupid things when the model in question was designed originally as a LHD then changed to RHD for the UK at least.
