I have a 2002 MG ZR 2.0 TDI that is sitting at 138 bhp after a re-map (but totally standard bar the remap), for £300 what is the maximum bhp i could SAFELY get from my Zed?

Please the mods needed and price, as fitting is not a problem as my father is a mechanic..

Simple answer, for instant max power gain you want the Wingy Injectors, end of!

BUT, Without the simple mods it will smoke like crazy! The only thing you should be thinking of if you've got a remap on a standard car is refining that remap with the simpler bits first to make the most ou of what you've got.i.e. Mafam (£50ish), Decat (£30-40ish), Decent air filter(Vary), GBE valve(£40 ish) + Gauge(vary)(really important to know what boost your running), EGR blanking plates (£14ish)+ cleaning out the inlet pipe + manifold. Doing all these will transform the way your car drives and then set you up for any future power mods.

From there you can make the most out of a Exhaust system(£340ish) + High flow frontpipe(£150ish), Wingy Injectors(£245ish), FMIC(vary), Pocketbikeuk Hybrid Turbo(£400-500ish), Performance clutch(£350ish).

You can go even further with other things like Donnydiesel400(Mark) has on here. He's for sure got the most mods on an l series on this forum so it would be worth searching through his threads for extra info.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Phil.

dcat pipe around £30 from wingy about 8bhp gain
decent panel filter not sure what price
modified injectors around £250 from wingy
boost increase free or (buy a boost controler)

realisticaly you should have done this work before you had your remap done as the gains would be better!

a rough estimate of bhp would be 160bhp maybe more!

hope this helps

cheers

Hi, i noticed you posted in the sticky on modded diesels as well, and just wondered how long you have had the car for and if you have had anything fail as a result of such a harsh map? I am getting my own car remapped on thursday and after seeking advice from friendly chappies on here first it seems like anything over 135bhp is pushing the fuel pump a bit hard, and i already have the simple mods (i.e. decat, boost increase, high flow panel filter, mafam). Is it proven to 138bhp, as it seems like an exact number?

Cheers, James
