What I did with TOAF today.

I thought that it might be good to see what folks are doing, so I'll start it off:-

I disabled the automatic rear screen heater control. (That should save a lot of unnecessary electrical consumption).
I enabled the door lock controlled window lowering function. (Should be good for the summer)

Don't ask me to tell you how to do it as I'm still playing!

I'm working with TOAF on an unfamiliar laptop (the wife's old one) so would really struggle to do anything like that as it takes me all my time to navigate the programme at present. :nerd: I'm a bit slow with a computer (give me spanners any day!). :grin:I did previously also manage to switch off auto door locking and get double flashing hazards, so I'm feeling quite proud of myself so far. I've also cleared all the fault codes from previous years (luckily, none have re-appeared).

In my case what I plan to do with TOAF today:

I've got a message centre IPK from a right hand drive with the primary speed reading in miles which I want to fit in my lhd which doesn't have the message centre. The wife is not at all happy about this but I've promised her that I'll only change it if I can activate the digital speed modification.

Is there an easy way of doing it with TOAF or is it still a case of changing "byte at 00A8 to 21" which at the moment doesn't make much sense but might do once I activate the programme. (Got BMW Scanner on standby).

Nice one Mike, I should be set up next week to have a look at TOAF, The first thing I want to do is to disable the atomatic door locking as soon as the car reaches a certain speed, It's annoyed me from day one of buying the car.
so I may be looking for suggestions as to the right place in TOAF to disable it.

Ok thanks for the replies especially the suggestion of waiting for the next version before attempting again. The only version I have at present is 43.

It'll be interesting to see as to whether the IPK reports an error or not as there seem conflicting views.

I think I've got Phil-T4's digital solution somewhere but haven't tried it as a) didn't have a message centre IPK b) was unsure if it would work with XP. With all this information around I need to start saving and indexing.

Ok,finally got my obd2 cable ,soldered pins 7&8 together ,got the TOAF program to work - sort of.
Cleared a heap of faults on a number of modules but have some questions.
I believe I have the latest download -43 but when I open the EWS module I get a box with data in it called data module but the top part of the screen is empty- does the current version read all the EWS data ? as I remember seeing the EWS data on EWS lite where it brings up all the keys etc but not on TOAF and not sure if you can pair the EWS to the BCU ? or it the DDE.
I opened the BCU and can see 2 active keys and the same numbers as on the stickers inside the key (barcode) but not sure how you add a new key (another fob).
Also noticed when in one of the modules I can activate my memory seats,I ticked the box but there is no save button, just reset and a couple of other options.Dosn't seem to stay ticked and just revert back to its original settings when going back into that module. How do you save the new setting in the module ?
Seems to be a few modules that TOAF dosnt seem to open.??

Saving TOAF screenshots

First, a how to make & save toaf screenshots with windows XP.

Go to start
All programs
Accessories
Paint , and open , get used to maximising and minimising without closing.

Minimise paint
Now presuming you have Toaf open & running with a page of information to save.
On your keyboard press "Prt SC" or print screen

Maximise paint, Look near the top left....
Press "Edit" , drop down to "Paste" and left click
Press "File" , drop down to "Save as" and left click

Pop up menu appears , select where you want to save, "Save in" (desktop) or wherever you choose,
move curser down to file name, add number or name as you want
"Save as type" on drop down and "JPEG" works well.
Finally click "save" thats it.

But if making multiple screenshots , go back to "File" drop down to "New" then minimise paint to start all over again .
Looks long-winded but only takes seconds.

When I first try to connect, comms port 3 comes up toaf says connected but cannot read scan car. So disconnect , go to settings ,com drop down and get ...

Click on com6 and connect. Scan car works as do most modules.
Then for example on the scan car page theirs a save button which when pressed gives a windows pop up ...

I have no problem saving to desktop using the toaf scan file name but the *bin file gets saved under a "VLC" icon and cannot be opened and read. XP has no idea what to do with *bin.

I finally got around to installing TOAF & did my first successful attempt at changing an option. Pretty simple stuff to most of you guys but a big step for me:grin: I hated the "autolock after run" It has annoyed me from day one of buying the car.

I would like to thank Longer86 for pointing me in the right direction in TOAF to disable it. Thank you Sir.

Hi everyone, not sure if this post is still live but today I downloaded and installed the latest version of TOAF on my windows 10 surface tablet, plugged in this cable

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/INPA-Ediaba...rface-OBD2-OBDII-Diagnostic-Tool-Cable-For-BMW-/311650426880?txnId=758367990021

Plugged it into the car, set to com port 3.... And all worked!!!!! Service indicator reset, drive away locking activated and auto rear demist deactivated. Also activated key open/close function but doesn't seem to have done anything.

Very pleased with myself as I am a total 100% novice! But very easy to do
