What happens to 45/ZS Hatch?

The photos of the revamped Rover 45 and MG ZS only show the saloon versions of the cars. Will they show the hatch models in Birmingham or have they kicked them out of their range?

Or will they even look different to the saloons?

I was just looking at these picture at the MG-Rover site!! Even though these are photoshop pictures I like this a lot. It works better on the hatch imho(Actually I don't mind the rear of the saloons but this is more successful. Overall it makes the hatch look more dynamic. Btw. the more I see the ZS 180 the more it looks like a ground based fighter plane! They should use images of British Bulldogs and Spitfires to advertise this car. If they add a supercharger and bump power to about 220bhp I think this will turn into a "Must have vehicle"

I have trouble with this when I know of Australian car companies who have less cash in the kitty and have managed to change half the panels for less money on cars with an annual production under 40,000.

Patrick, that is such an old song, but the record must be scratched as you play it over and over! Holden (as you like to cite them so much) have the benefit of a benevolent parent to pick them up if they should stumble. MG-R don't and they have to watch every penny they spend. If they stumble half of the journalists and a good many punters pile on and stick the boot in. Obviously MG-R are reserving the bulk of their financial resourses for RD/X60 which seems a smart move if you ask me.

Yes! Why is it that MGR cannot do better than this? IMO the boot is horrid.
If the car is a short term solution then my response is that the company need to do better in the short term, to reassure us about the long term if nothing else.

I am not willing to excuse any fault of MGR's. None of us should be. I believe any move the company takes CANNOT be half hearted, and since they have a cash reserve, should not be.

I have to agree.
The now, big @rsed saloon should be renamed Rover 45 Widdecombe....
It reminds me of those hideous saloon versions of the Focus & 306 - the 'hatch with a boot tacked on' look.
The 5dr isn't much better - it reminds me of the Vectra & new Astra - not a good mental image!
Both would have been better with the number plate left where it was to break up the flat expanse of metal.
The 45 interior is, however, an improvment, though only just and only in the lighter colours.
The ZS dash does nothing for me at all (ie with the alloy instead of wood trim).
From the 45 front is a modest improvement, but the ZS is a bit over-the-top.

MG-Rover you've failed - I'm just not tempted to part-ex my 45 in the slightest, especially as yet, there is no uprated diesel. (I won't hold my breath)
I hope I'm the exception!!!

Not too keen on the facelift myself. Front end is still fussy/messy in my eyes. I always felt the best feature of the mk2 400/45 range was the saloon rear. Not no more. They should of pushed the saloon up market , nice chrome number plate surround , but now they have gone all cheap and gimmiky with the lettering.

Interior wise , I suppose its an improvement , the Rover one however does not look very Rover like. It's very generic , could be found in any car.

Still prefer the 400 front to both 45's

nice 45 the zs looks good but not in that colour!!!!!
out of the two id buy the 45, but not my decision me dad (yes he buys the cars) wants to wait for the rd60 cause he say ' iwant someting more than that 45, but dont want a 75' (he only doesnt like the 45 cause he keeps on stalling it) :eyes: but he drives his mazda b-series all the time so why he chooses the car is a mystery, (oh yeah he has the money) :devil2:
