i bought this car a few weeks ago and its cost me £3000 so far.. i say so far as the wheel allignment is out so im hoping its only down to tracking.. its a 54 plate with 24000 miles.. ive been looking for a car for the past few months n i was looking to pay anything up to £6000 n you havnt really got alot of choice for that money.. amazed at the value you can get a zr for.. i went for the 1.4 as i only passed my test in november.. believe it or not i know the sterotype is that these are for the elderly but my 75 yr old grandmother has an mg zr 160 bless her! lol

does anyone know what this colour is called? its a pearlescent green

Front suspension looks a bit high.. Is that standard ZR suspension?
may only be the way it's parked :dunno:

there's an unlikely possibility that it may be more serious

jlloyd - can you measure the distance from the edge of the tyre on the front wheel to the wheelarch at sill level? Compare both sides of the car to see if it's the same distance.

It may just be the angle at which the picture was taken, the way the front wheels have been left, where it's parked or a combination of all three . . . but the front wheel in the photo looks like it's too close to the front door - as if it's been pushed back. I only mention it because my son drove his 214i in to a kerb island and the net result was the front wheel was pushed back in the chassis on the driver's side. As a rough indication - I was able to fit my fist in the gap between the tyre and the arch on the passenger side, but not on the driver's side. It was pulled out, but even after wheel alignment, one tyre would wear a lot quicker (particularly on the outside edge in our case) than the other.

Hope it's just the angle of the photo - really sorry to be all 'doom and gloom' on a nice looking little car in a cracking colour.

with shakey cold hands n nothing to measure the difference id guess that difference is about right and hopefully thats the problem! putting weight on that side seemed firmer that the lower spring.. unless i was just imagining it!

colour was HQM

at the moment im just looking to tidy up a few things with it.. its in pretty good condition inside and out.. gonna have it properly looked at tho n see what problems arise.. aslong as the suspension is evened out i'll be happy! it was serviced 6 weeks prior to me buying it and its got a long MOT on it..

hopefuly all is well!

It is Goodwood Green, code HQM ( It was also known as Aquamarine when used on the 80th anniversary TF). It was one of the standard colour options for the Mk2 Zeds. It replaced Le Mans Green in the range when the MK2 was introduced, and wasn't as popular, which added to short production life of the Mk2 makes it fairly uncommon.

Your car does look a little high at the front, but it could be down to unlevel ground.

:welcome:

Unil it is properly looked at I wouldnt worry too much about the suspension mate, like said though.... see if the springs are different colours or have any stickers on

I have pretty much the same car as you and is on standard suspension.... look how high mine sits

Maybe in that photo it had some thing heavy in the boot? Making back look lower and as a result lifting front up

i thought it must have only been on the mk2.. and to be honest if buying new i probably wudnt have picked it.. i was after either black or xpower grey ended up with this one as its the 1st one of its colour id seen.. obviously because no one else wanted it! lol.. i wudnt swap it now though

i was hoping it was uneven ground but its deffinately only the passenger side.. anyone got an idea of cost if i just need a new spring?

basically.. ive had a look at the suspension and its got green paint on the passenger front.. obviously sustained some damage and has needed to be repaired and resprayed.. i am however suprised at how good the paint job is.. i thought that it would be difficult to match up the pearlescent paint..

theres no other evidence of damage without having a proper look under the car.. i didnt even notice till you guys pointed it out!..

i dont know when this happened but the previous owner has told me he knows nothing about it.. im hoping it was before its last mot and hopefuly it shouldnt be too big a problem.. MOT is due in august
