hey guys btw before i get to my point it's 'RYAN MGTF' here decided to make a new account for username purposes also thinking to get a subscription soon to the forum :)

so anyway, I recently raced my friend down an empty clear motorway stretch and was surprised by the level of gain he had over me. He drives a 1999 1.8 mx-5 stock with a k&n induction kit but thats it. I could keep up with him on the lows but it's not long till he kicks my butt pulling away leaving me considerably far behind >.< raaaaage. Whats even more embaressing is he was carrying an extra 90kg passenger (his cousin) who happened to be filming me losing LOL

feels bad guys.........feels real bad.....haha

The Mazda firstly is 140bhp and has 120lbft torque in that fully laden car with the two of them in roughly
1100kg

You raced them in a car that has 115bhp with similar torque but with and average person driving it weighs in at over 1230kg

It's no surprise really
Yours is a second slower to 60 and is less aerodynamic

So that other car is faster than your'n. Who knew ? ... :)

Can you carry 3 or 4 passengers in the Masda though ... and still cruise at three figures safely? I can in both my MG ZSs.

Before any pedants remind us of the namby-pamby UK NSL, on the continent during a touring holiday, on arrival back home my son casually let out that he did just that when the car was barely a year old ... the rascal!

Well, to start with the forum rules don't allow for you to run multiple accounts. I have merged the two accounts together.

Next time, please just ask an Admin if you would like the username to be changed.

A word to the wise, read the rule's, racing on a public road is frowned upon in these forums.

Tbh those MX-5's are pretty quick for what they are stock, bolt a supercharger on then they like rockets, did that to a 92' eunos roadster (1600cc engine), to start with they had 22bhp more then uk spec (uk=90bhp, jdm=112bhp), they weigh 990kgs, the supercharger gave it a extra 80bhp, man it was scary, you could step the tail out on demand, my sister sold it on in the end as she my youngest nephew on the way.

i must admit those mx5's can shift. one was driven by a friend of mine (mk2 1. iirc) and he had to really punish it to keep up with my derv (sorry guys, we all know the 120 WILL get eaten by a tuned derv) he was shocked because he told me that mx5 was a quick little car.

the other thing i have noticed about mx5s

you can still buy them with 200+k on the clock..

been a long time since i've seen a f/tf with that milage.

meh, don't worry guys......i'm really not butthurt anymore, he had the lighter car with more bhp so it was bound to happen + mx-5's dont merely look as aesthetic as MG's not to mention it's jap anyway and what's jap and looks good? nothing really unless your really spending A LOT......even honda's are all boring and ugly, the civic ep3's for example (par with the car type and age of ZR's) just look wrong, they look like boats, then take the body kit off you wanna tear your eyes out :eek:mg2:
