Things to do after HGF? (VVC Coupe)

My car had a HGF due to the waterpump failing. Got it fixed by local main dealer. When i picked it up, they didn't give me any advice on how to drive the car, or if i need to take it back for them to check after a while.

I've kept to around 4000RPM max (gentle acceleration) since getting it back, and not giving it any 'enthusiastic' driving at all.

Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Col's right, just keep an eye on your coolant level and the temp gauge. Assuming the HG repair was done correctly (main dealer so it ought to be ok) then you shouldn't have any probs.

Out of interest, how much did you pay for the HG repair?

I just drove the car like it was brand new after I got it back from HGF a few years back, did this until I felt confident enough to allow the revs over 4,000 rpm, 40,000+ miles on and it's had no trouble since....although I do tend to keep an eye on the coolant level once a week (when it comes out the garage!) :D

Well so far so good. Only problem now is the CAT has gone, sounds like a bag of bolts at the moment. Andy, it set me back ÂŁ612.05, off the road for a week as the gargae couldn't book it in till the friday after it happend (Saturday Afternoon) and then had to wait for parts to come in so didn't get it back till the monday (Labour costs bumped price up if you ask me).

Yeah - labour on the VVC is a pain... I had a quote of ÂŁ1200 from MG Rover. (Yeah - right!). A quote of ÂŁ850 inc VAT from a third party Rover specialist here in Notts (again - too pricey). Also had some cheaper quotes (circa 500 quid) from Joe Bloggs back-street garage....

Chose to take the motor to a separate Engineering firm. ÂŁ650 inc VAT (and new Rad, so not bad really). Problems since then - but fixed for free by the Engineering firm. Then noticed the tappits were buggered on a cold start due to valve failure post HG repair - hence back to the Engineers (parts only) to get them fixed. (250 quid....sigh).

Mind you, i saved 6 grand in the first place by NOT buying a BMW Coupe - so i suppose i can't grumble too much!)
