Hey guys On my way home on sunday the engine started developing a misfire. I managed to get home ok but the next day when i started her up she was even worse and would cut out as soon its under load.
I cleaned the dizzy out with wd40. The misfire was still there but it stopped cutting out underload. I went for a little drive to see if it would clear and it cut out completely. there was a good spark from the king lead from the coil to the dizzy but no spark at the plugs.
I fitted a new dizzy and rotor arm and now have a good spark but it still has the misfire. Whilst the engine was running i pulled each ht lead off and have traced it to number 3 cylinder. Ive cleaned and swapped the plugs round with no difference. Although the plug in cyl 3 does seem dry compared to the others and doesnt change colour after a run so now im thinking possibly number 3 injector not fueling?
I read somewhere about disconnecting the crank sensor to see if it still runs then reconnecting it and disconnecting the cam sensor to see if it runs. When i disconnect the cam sensor it makes no difference to how its running but When i disconnect the crank sensor it doesnt start at all, does this mean the cam sensor is faulty? Is there anyway to test it and could this be the reason why its misfiring on 1 cylinder only?
