Hi

Just wondering if anybody can give me an estimate of running cost of 2000 Rover 75 v6 classic 2.0 such as material cost (what to be done at this age) and petrol usage?

any help will be appreciated...

cheers

I've had my 2.5 litre 75 for a month & I'm getting 36 - 40 mpg doing 70 miles on motorway & 32-35 doing 20 miles to work through central manchester every day, quite pleasantly surprised for a big engine! Look for the best condition you can, obviously. I spent a good 3 months & picked mine up for under 2k after px for my car ( sticker price ÂŁ2995 ) & it is virtually mint inside and out with under 50k on the clock. I budgetted for a couple of new tyres at approx ÂŁ70 each (?)... my only gripe is the bloody spare key!! Hope this helps mate!

2nd key is a must
90k service if it hasn't been done already which includes belt changes at around ÂŁ500, i have been told clutches are around the same figure, manifold about the same again, so you need to make sure you dont buy a lemon.

I have a 2.0 and i only average between 20-25 mpg mostly town driving

Your mileage costs will be 29mpg provided you don't make that V6 scream too often.

There are a couple of rather large gotcha's to expect if they haven't already been done. The clutch will go sometime and that will cost around ÂŁ500. The inlet manifold may go which will also cost around the ÂŁ500 mark. If you intend holding on to the car and looking after it then there are a lot of belts and a water pump which need to be done I think at 6 yrs 90k. That will set you back around ÂŁ600

Apart from that it's the same as any other car.

Make sure to watch your water at least once a week. If it starts to drop then it's probably the thermostat between the V's. Don't know how much that costs as it hasn't happened to me, yet!!. If the water drops out and the engine overheats, then eh, that's not good.

Lovely car to drive though, and worth every penny.
