Hey up peeps...
My reversing light switch has started acting up, sometimes its fine occasionally it will not turn on when reverse is selected. Easy to know when because my reversing sensor buzzer does not beep.
I have a new spare ready to fit and looking at earlier posts it can be done without taking out the engine/gearbox.
Got a couple of questions that I hope will save me some time doing the job...well that's what the forum is for aint it?

1, Do I need to drop the oil in the gearbox, or is it over the oil level in the sump, I think it is, but just checking,
2, Is it best reached from above, through the access hatch above the engine, or from below, with the car on ramps?
3, If I need to get at it from above, is it wise to remove the air filter box before or can it be done with it in place?
4, Will it need a gasket or sealant or can it just go straight in?

Much appreciated

No need to drain the oil and best reached from underneath with the NSR wheel removed and car raised slightly on that corner

As the switch is a screw in type, it is possible that your existing one just needs adjusting.

Good luck.

Thanks for that Ian, If I am going to get it out, may as well put my new one in anyhow, it first went about 9 months ago, then after a day it was fine until last week. So got a new one in ready as I was more than certain failure was imminent.
May have a look at it tomorrow if the rain stays off!
