It's probally also held in by clips, run a large flat bladed screw driver around to edge, to help you locate them and then just prise it off.

Failing that, ask me again tomorrow as I'll be taking mine off to sound deaden it.

 

I guessed it may be held on by clips, but it's so tightly on I didn't want to pull too hard to raise an edge up.

 

Just pull pull pull.

Prise a bit with a screw-driver with the head wrapped in a rag too.

It will make a big noise as it comes off - and also has some clips around the bulge covering the wiper motor.

Err, bit of a problem



We fitted the tailgate motor, and the tailgate loom and it doesn't work


We quickly found out that the pink and orange wires which operate the motor are not present on the loom which leaves the tailgate and heads down into the boot. They are present on the loom at the bottom though, so when Dr Dave sold me the bits he forgot I needed an extra loom. On the label it's called "tailgate sub" so I guess I need one of these as well Looks tricky to fit as well

 

Inside the boot, the loom to the right is missing the orange and pink wires.

Inside the tailgate, the loom to the left is the new one with pink and orange wires, but the existing loom to the right doesn't have them.

The tailgate with new loom and motor fitted.

Have you been able to find where it goes to at the other end?

If so then I'd just run the two wires through the car rather than trying to replace that section of loom - would save time and money I think.

Have I seen you OCUK at some point?

I can see both ends of it, but as it's very difficult to get the ends off the plugs I'll contact Richardsons and get a new loom.



I've just properly fitted it to the driver's side door The supplied loom I did not even need, and even if I did it would have been no use as it didn't have a connection for the tweeter.


It was very difficult to fit, but it's done now and works fine on that door.

Ironically I had my tailgate panel off today to fix the problem I had with my boot central locking.

It turned out that the orange wire had broken (at the point where it feeds up into the taligate hinge cavity under the right hand side rubber bung)

If was half tempted to take photos of the repair job but decided against it.

I wish I had done now as it may have helped you out!
