Im painting my calipers next week in Red while my mate paints her calipers blue on her black SXI whooooop lol

 

nope, not as yet, the civic type r was in the way lol, i'll move it tomorrow and take some more pics

what spray paint did you use steve?? they long like the Type R Honda caliper.

Also do you have to take the caliper off before you can paint it or not?

It's not spray paint, it comes in a tin. High Temperature Gloss Red from Halfords.
& No, leave the caliper on other wise you have to bleed the brakes etc.

not 100% tbh mate, bought 2 and some wet and dry paper and some antifreeze at the same time, bare with me and i'll dig out the reciept.

is there a guide to painting your calapers and rear drums as i wouldnt mind do this to mine

 

ok usually i will happily advise someone no question about it.
but seriously, there are countless threads about explaining how to do it, plus its really not that difficult and i think everyone should be made to buy a haynes manual anyway, they explain how to get to nearly everything you will ever need to.
i dont target that rant at you djalien10, its just my general opinion.

painting your drums...
jack the car up at the specified point along the sill
remove the wheel
remove the drum (2 screws)
rub down with an abrasive wet and dry paper (80) or a wire brush
remove excess rust by blowing and ensure the drum is clean
paint with high temperate paint (whatever colour) 2 coats

painting your calipers...
jack the car up under the sump
remove the wheel
leave the caliper on, as it isn't worth bleeding the brakes
clean it up in the same way as you would drums but on the car
and paint with high temp paint avoiding anything that isn't part of the caliper, i.e bleed nipple and pads

high temp paint takes hours to dry, when it is you can put the wheels back on and remove the jack
jobs a good'un

 

I think, but could be wrong, that you can take the calipers off or at least pull them away from the rotors without having to disconnect/bleed them. Still might not be worth bothering with though!

talking about haynes manual..........did they do one for a facelift ZR 05> onwards? as i was going to buy one but cant find any around?

Yes, all day depending on the paint !!!

 

I just did mine on saturday and found that i could put the wheel back whilst the paint was still wet; just got to be careful you don't touch the calipers. Other than that you can put the wheels back on.... i just wouldn't recommend driving it too much until the paints dried!

Rear:

Shall be sticking Green Stuff pads on back this weekend as the front ones made a HUGE difference
