Heyy Guys,
So I was on my way home from work today when all of a sudden my 2001 Rover 25 kicked itself out of 2nd gear and is refusing to go back into it. I can hold the clutch down and put it into gear, but as soon as I lift the clutch back up it kicks itself back out of gear again. All other gears work fine.
Any Ideas?

Thanks, Lewis

Okay so change of plan boys, I need to replace the gearbox, however, I am not going to have an engine hoist in time for this weekend (when I ideally need to get it replaced) so is there any easy methods you guys have for removing it?

As far as im aware, I need to knock the driveshafts out of the box, drain the fluid, undo the bolts securing it to the engine block, release the clutch cable, undo the gearbox/engine mounts and steady bar and then somehow lower it out of the engine bay.

Probably missing a load because I have not done it in that order before so any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's pretty much spot on mate. Jack the car up and put it on some axle stands as high as you can get it so you can slide the box out. Then it's pretty much as you described. Just get a jack and a bit of wood to support the engine while you remove the mounts and gearbox but other than that then that's it.
