Hi All,

Thinking of buying one of these - what's the benefit and will I fail an MOT with one?

Cheers!

Many of us have been quoting this test result for some while but I've been wondering if the decat situation holds good with the 160. After all, the Trophy was the first 160 and MGR put a reduced restriction silencer on it so they must have felt it did something. :dunno:
Maybe we'll find out after the RR day.

Check out the BROQUET and FUEL-CAT sites for inexpensive real performance gains! Go for the 'In-Tank' version, rather than in line. This fuel catalyst made a fabulous performer of our Jag XJ40 3.6 Auto 28 mpg (on a run) even 22 around town & 0-60 in 7.2secs. and the std.1.8 MGF (we were forced to sell due to my hip) that really ate VVC's yet gave 40+ mpg and no cooling problems.Insurance is not affected as we are changing and improving the petrol. Good luck! PS Emissions are seriously reduced. the JAG would have passed a Cat test with its non-cat exhaust system

Do you work for this company. This is the second post you've put on here.... Looking on their website (BROQUET).... there are NO CLAIMS of performance gains in terms of BHP.

Its very unlikely that fuel alone, in a car that doesn't have any way of uitilisiing any extra octane could give you 25BHP needed to boost the car from a standard 120 to even compete with the VVC......

We don;t have cooling problems either.

complete tosh.

Just looked at your profile and 3 of the 4 posts you have posted are advertisements for these pellets....

Dare I speak out against the Great Rob Bell Site?

http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/exhaust/catalysts.htm

For the figures to be analytically/scientifically correct there should only be one variable changed at a time. The test was carried out using a DE-CAT and Daytona exhaust, thats two variables, not to mention different induction air filters.

Those figures are only for a car with the daytona exhaust setup.

I have asked this question before but no replies..... Is the daytona exhaust specifically tuned for maximum power gain with a CAT installed? If so, then the results would be biased against a DE-CAT pipe from the outset.

I have a DE-CAT on the VVC and 1.8i. Thats the only mod on both cars, everything else is standard.
I have no rolling road figures but from 'the seat of the pants' perspective.... the lower rev range of the VVC has no flat spots and much sharper acceleration with a DE-CAT pipe.

:dddc: Coming along to our Rolling Road Day next Saturday will put your mind at ease! :D

How can any one want to break the Law, pollute and kill are kids.
When your cat is defect ist just a fine, to de-kat is a crime and you
can be done for criminal-negigence, also you will give a bad image to
MG Owners. Try to increase power in a nice clean and legal way and make
us pround you.

regards

What did I start!!! OK - just to clarify, I WON'T be getting one! I'll concentrate on trying to an "Alan Titchmarsh-meets-Broon" mod on my shiney new K&N! I have a 52mm TB arriving for the weekend - I take it the K&N for the VVC will just push and clamp on i.e. the diameter isn't differnt enough from standard to make it not fit???
