MG6 diesel front disc rotor availability issue

I wonder if anyone can help with this. I have a low mileage MG6 diesel 1.9 2015 year in the UK. The front discs need replacement and previously these have been available, but now seem to be almost impossible to source. The front discs for the diesel are 296mm diameter I think, but appear to be simply not available. There appear to be many suppliers offering 284mm diameter discs but am not sure if these could be substituted and if so, whether other brake components would need to be replaced to match this smaller overall disc diameter.
I expect that this problem will affect all MG6 diesel owners , and without a solution the cars are probably end of life , a very sad prospect as I much enjoy the MG6.
Any help would be much appreciated .

I'm in the same boat as yourself plus other diesel owners. I've a MK1 2015 diesel and my front 295mm discs are pretty much at the end of their life. After much searching, I found out MG have discontinued the discs which only they made with no aftermarket alternative available! It appears the last remaining stock has now gone.
There are two alternatives, downgrade to 284mm petrol discs which will fit. The only issue being with the smaller disc is that the pads will overhang the discs slightly. You can either modify the pad by cutting off the excess from the edge or change the calipers & carriers to petrol ones, to avoid having to modifying the pads. The other option is to upgrade to a full MG-ZT-190 set up. This requires 325mm discs, pads, calipers, caliper carriers, hoses & 18 wheels are required. If used with TSE 18" wheels, then 5mm spacers and longer bolts are required. Hope that helps.

I had a similar problem with my TF LE500. Both the sun visor and the wiper motor failed within 2 years. My garage could not source new ones until we asked for a line pick up. Soon after we heard that the line was being shut down so worred that parts would be scarce in the future.
Hope you find a solution soon

Hi, joined the group as I encountered the problem of no availability of the mg6 Diesel front brake discs. I ended up buying discs and pads for the Rover 75 which are the same as the MG6 petrol smaller discs . I then bought a new carrier from Rimmer Bros . The caliper doesn’t need to be changed just the carrier . I hope this helps someone else. Rimmer Bros part number SEH100130 for the carrier.

Good news, you can now pre order 295mm custom sized diesel front brake discs from DMGRS. They cost ÂŁ169.99 for a pair including pads. They are Borg & Beck branded discs turned down to the correct size in DMGRS's workshop using a lathe. Link posted below to view.

UPDATE 20/05/2024 - DMGRS look to have changed the custom sized discs to a 284mm conversion kit instead, including the below. ÂŁ149 for the kit or ÂŁ319 with added optional calipers.

- LH and RH Brake Caliper Carriers for 284mm Brake Discs including Sliders
