Hi,
I have seen this problem a bit around on the internet, but can't find a solution to it!
My MG ZR is a 2005 model, so it does not have an external opening device for the boot - the only way to open it is on the remote key fob! (pretty stupid design if you ask me!)
The boot stopped opening a while back, so I removed the internal panel on the boot, and opened it manually. There was no apparent problem, and it started working again... I added a bit of grease for good luck...
A few days later it stopped opening again, and hasn't opened since. All that happens is a quiet 'click' noise from under the steering wheel somewhere - near the fuse box. I have checked all the fuses, and they are fine... can't find anywhere in the handbook that relates to this sort of problem either!
I have now tied a piece of string to the internal opening mechanism, so you can open the boot with a tug from the passenger side rear door! - It works but is less than convenient!
Has anyone had this issue and managed to overcome it? I would appreciate any advice anyone has to offer.
thanks very much
Chris
