Hi.

I was just wondering what would be the most bhp I would be able to get out of my MG ZR 2.0TD. I think the engine already has 105+ bhp but will have to check up.

At the moment it stands as standerd but want to get the best perforance out of it as possible. Fancied a trip to the Santa Pod soon and give it a few runs.

Any info would be most grateful.

Don't think you can get a RoverRon tuning box for the ZR. Its only for then older 200 diesels. The ZR/25s have a different fuel pump.

You can get a remap from pocketbikeuk for around ÂŁ150, and you'll be looking at 130bhp, then like rlxs says add a decat + air filter and you're looking at slightly more and an engine thats more responsive. Wingy777 does decats and diesel exhausts, PM him.

Also you can get a MAFAM from RoverRon if you're lacking power below 2k RPM.

Check in the diesel section for loads of info about it all. They're also going to santa pod on the 21st if you can get there.

roverron's tuning box will not fit it's only for the 200's!

things you can do to increase power are :
mafam (from rover ron)
decat (from wingy 777)
up the boost (diy)
good panel filter or inclosed induction kit
good free flowing back box
then when youve all the work get a remap from pocketbikeuk
you can also fit a fmic

there are other modification that have come to light like hybrid turbo, modified fuel pump and modified injectors these are available from derv doctor but aint cheap
check out the threads in diesel forum for more info

hope this all helps

cheers

Hi.

About 140bhp any more is just too much for the pump.

Make sure the MAF is good or get a MAFAM from ron - This will affect low revs and midrange
Decat (wingy's ones seem good), slightly earlier on boost and better midrange, slight increase in top end power
Up the boost to 19-20psi, better top end power
Good air filter, midrange and top end power improved
Good exhaust, midrange and top end power improved
Remap - Better all over the place if it is done right

Hi.

Thanks for all the info.
And I will be hopefully do those things over the next few weeks.
Where should I go to get remapped.
Is superchip the best or are there others to consider.
I have read up on a few and looks like some of them just install the chip.
Should I be looking for a rolling road when fitting.

Also toying with the idea of a bigger turbocharger. Or even fitting a second turbo as I do have alot of metal skills and could get it to fix, but by doing so you would have less exhaust fumes running through each. Would this make a difference in power the turbos receive? What do you think? Would it be worth a go.

get all your other mods done then i can remap your car for you if you are interested im prob the cheapest in the uk and specialise in rovers i have done many members cars on here and can help you reach the performance you are looking for. first of all dont bother with a bigger turbo yet the pump can only supply 140-45bhp and your current turbo is fine for that, follow what etv and ron said and then give me a shout.

Matt,

Tell me more about your remaps, are they done in conjunction with a 'dyno? I've done a bit of research on the subject as I was interested in the possiblity of this for mine, a number of remaps I've found are based on guesswork which may well improve drivability but perhaps fall short of optimal throughout the rev range.

hi there well i have put my 25 on the rolling road a few time now to test how the l series engine responds to different states of tune i have recorded over 25 runs and me and my tuner have a fairly good idea on what tune should produce what bhp based on my car in different states of tune and the rolling road runs i have done, if people want i can book them in for a rolling road session to get a torque and bhp readout after a tune and adjust the tune alot more specifically but im pretty sure my expected figures are met pretty closely as the guess work on my car was pretty close. just ask members on here if they are happy with there results. i dont just tune the car once i will change the file till car is at its max if you want ie no more power can be had without more upgrades ie car is smoking at full throttle

Thanks Matt will do so.

Before I start all the mods I want to put in a Boost gauge so I know What psi its running before increasing it.
Where should I attach the tube to, as some of you have put it in two different places.

Is it attached to the back of the actuator.

Thanks
