I used Jamie's wiring diagram when I did mine : http://google.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=382341 He also lists what you need. As for the reprogramming, you don't need to do it if your making up your own loom. It looks complcated but once you get started is pretty simple to do.

BTW unfortunately looms are extremely rare now and they come in two types for the TF depending which fuse/relay box is fitted in the car.

Do you have round remote locking fobs with MG logo in the middle? If so you need the later kind, if you have the square fobs then you should need the earlier kind. You don't need to programme the loom, it's plug and play.

Part numbers:

xbq000120 earlier loom

xbq000140 later loom

 

Seems to change at VIN 620549 according to a Google search I just did.

(My two TFs are either side of this number which suggests it's accurate as they differ as identified above based on the fob type as a simple check)

Part nos are correct too as I now recall. I fitted an earlier loom to my later TF. The only difference being some of the connectors into the fuse box.

Looks good value at £30 but I wouldn't hold out much hope of it staying so low. It's listed for 9 days!

Looks like the ones im getting are off an f because the brackets are big metal things so i must be getting an old loom. My vin is 618 and my fob is square'ish and doesnt have an mg logon, so i think im ok apart from the brackets?
The guy is also sending me full instructions on how to fit and wire them so illl upload them if they make sense.

My question is... Will i be able to make my own tf brackets? Or will i be able to adapt the f ones?

I don't know what differences there may be between F and TF wiring. My info is based solely on TFs, earlier and later. Early TF wiring may be the same as F.

I don't think F metal brackets will be usable at all. The TF brackets as has been said are completely different animals and are either glued or screwed in, ie later ones screwed. They changed around 2003 and the above VIN.

 

You will need specific plastic brackets that are bonded to the bumper, they are listed as a seperate part but when fitting my front fogs and loom the brackets were already there - mine is vin 600300 so an early one.

 

Brackets are bumper age specific...not car age specific. It may have had a later bumper fitted! (or indeed an earlier one if you see what I mean)

 

Ill wait till they arrive and i have the bumper off. Seems like its going to be fun tho!!!

I didnt need brackets in the end. I bonded the lights direct to the bumper then surrounded them with expandable foam to hold them tight, simples
