Ive come unstuck with that as there MKII seats and the MKI one dont have hog rings just plastic stitched to the leather that is so brittle the only one ive touched has exploded

You can indeed add heated seats to this kit and you don't need to hack the relay in the loom at all. Other than the two switches, you'll need an additional two relays to be safe (otherwise you will be drawing all the current for the seat element through the switch too).

This is the guide I followed, won't help you with the MK1 seats I don't think but will show you how to get the wheel off.

I was meaning id have to put an extra relay in the system for each side - problem is they currently share the same relay so id have to split that

Saw something like this in my local Lidl store yesterday.

 

was that a heated cover = aldi have them in

 

unplug the spade connectors from the switchs and add the relay in there!

So what's stopping you having the original switches hidden if you need to adjust and the factory switches either cutting the power or the ground?

ive wired up a relay - just hoping it works

The original switches are 3 position - 1-0-2 - so what ive done is wired a relay onto the end of the wire to pin 0 of the switch so that pin is broken when the dash switches are off and then powered when the dash switch is on

Only thing im short of is one of the green plugs for the back of the switch - i have one from a rover 45 heated seat switch but they are keyed and i need 2 green ones and have one green and one blue

 

That doesn't make sense to me, sounds like you have both switches set to off?

 

no - the 3 position switch will be set to 1 or 2 all the time - the relay and dash switch will break the feed

 

Why not have the 1-0-3 switches fitted to the side of the center console and use the OEM switches as a Master Power switch ?

Leave the kit ones on 2 so when you turn on the OEM switches it comes on but you have the option to turn them down, but like the circuit of a landing light swtich set up on a house. :broon:

 

thats what im doing but I cant switch the power through the dash switch it needs a relay - the switch would last 3 seconds with that current :lol:
