i would be interested in this mod too as the interior light although it stays on for a bit dosn't light up any where near the ig switch i assume it would be wired to the interior light too
It would be good to have a how to guide on this kind of mod... I'd love to have something like this cos it's a royal pain in the ass trying to 'get it in' when it's freezing cold in the morning/evening, you can't feel your hands, it's dark and somehow the ignition switch moves just to annoy you even more - a nice subtle light to show you where to aim would be good. haha
I can't see wiring one up to the cars interior light system to be THAT hard, would be pretty neat to see it slowly dim with the interior light/s. The only problem with that is that it'll come on every time you turn the light on, more of a neat feature me thinks personally.
I have wired an LED into the interior light to illuminate mine (really need to look out for a R25 one to retro fit.
As for coming on with the light, it only comes on with the doors and the remote. Using the switch incorporated into the light is a different circuit so does not make any difference to it.
An illuminated barrel looks neat (the wife's 420 has it) but I can't say I recall needing to look to see where to put the key in the ignition of my own car I've had it five years mind.
I like the thought of a single bright red led just above the ignition that shines downwards, if fitted neatly. Like the ones people do to the electric window switches. Sure the original ring is the best, but it sounds like a pain in the arse to fit and to me personally that doesn't sound like a bad alternative.
Never had a problem finding the key hole on mine, don't see what all the fuss is about needing a light or a torch. :dunno:
