Was thinking about this issue (lines in the screen) which seems to have been resolved by some by re soldering some of the solder points where the ribbon cable attaches to the LCD.
Apparently the solder joints dries and cracks and I believe its pretty hard to re solder them.
I saw some conductive type supa glue in an electrical hobby shop which creates conductive joints on circut boards and was wondering if anyone has tried using this to fix the issue. Might be aot easier than soldering.

Soldering isn't likely to work because the ribbon cable contacts are not soldered to begin with ;)

The ribbon cable contacts are fixed with a conductive putty, which dries out and shrinks over time, thus breaking the contact. It is possible (but fiddly) to heat the circuit board to soften the putty, and then apply pressure and motion to the contacts to spread the putty and regain contact.

The same type of fixing is used or most LCD screens in phones, control panels etc, and eventually they will almost all have similar failure of the contacts.

For anyone intrigued about 'conductive glue', my advice is don't waste your money on the black (carbon) impregnated PVA gloop sold on eBay, etc. In spite of the convincing photos of LEDs connected with it, the truth is it's a con. I've tried various 'glues' for fixing pcb's and such. The only type worth considering is the type containing colloidal silver (expensive). The black stuff is simply non-conductive when dried out. I can demo the test if anyone wants more.
