Hello. i've always kept myself in the 200 and derv sections, but since selling my SW im not the happy (ish) owner of a MGF, im calling her lemon. because everycar ive ever owned has been one. (well apart from a honda civic and a toyota IQ, but they were new so dont count)

here she is in all her purple glory

yup shes a wee but low, the last owner thought yo could pump the suspension up and down.. didnt realise untill they'd drained the system the a foot pump doesnt work...

and has a few holes in the roof (but since ive had half a dozen rovers and not one has not leaked a few holes on the roof dont scare me)

turned out its a wood kit...

as I type this freezing my arse off in my car. with a flat battery..

waiting for green flag..

this is the first time I've had to call them out to get me going ever...

not impressed mg. my rovers never left me stranded. just cold.
I don't wish to be funny but you started this thread on a downer I.E the title, most buyers of a secondhand car have to spend money initially to bring a car up to scratch particularly when it was as cheap as your?

try to become an optimist rather than a pessimist!

(posted by Jerry seriously ill in bed with Man flu!)

come on dude. I've had the car 2 days and it leaves me stranded.

did you think I was going to sing its praises? hard to when its freezing but you can't get the blanket out the car because the floors wet..

if you look at my past posts, I used to be optimistic.

then I spent 3k in a year trying to run a streetwise diesel..

Maybe the seller seen you coming and knew it wa on the way out?

What was wrong with it?

well had the suspension pumped up.

oh my great god...

these little cars are epic.

and only cost me 36 quid :)

how often should the suspension be topped up? and the front of my car sits slightly higher (theirs no spare, ironically I have 7 wheels off a zr here. and they won't fit...)

is this normal?

yeah I know.

ironically I grew out of lowering cars for looks with the streetwise. the f was just bouncing on the bumpstops. literally no suspension travel.

a left a nasty chunk out of a mates drive....

and it was too low to get a jack under to see..

will have a look tomorrow.

oh andthe head gasket getting done over the weekend :)

This is Gordon now:

He was abandoned at work car park only for me to rescue him rather late but saving him form the crusher. Change of plates (to Spanish) and two trips to England (FRL2011 and FRL2013) so far and he's still alive and kicking.

It was given to me FOC but it did cost me quite a bit to get to this state.

Get that suspension pumped up, check out the mobile mechanics or have a look at the Hydragas Register. Them 50quid pumps on eBay also work fine, I've one and used it a few times.

took the car over to someone who knows what their doing.

turnes out the garage only pumped it up halfway..... so he fully pumped it. (oh the difference)

gave the car a checkover, turnes out its already got a mls head gasket, and it doesnt look like its gone.

the only problem is the rear trailing arms are worn. so new bushes maybe.
