There is no point fitting an intercooler whatsoever!
Spend the money on a decent exhaust and enclosed induction kit instead.

Only 30bhp? Ive heard say by numerous 18 year olds that they give atleast 100!!! but that was with a max power open cone filter and a DTM peco back box so maybe their right..

 

Oh the reason am askin? the wife made me get rid of my Heavliy!! modified 420... I LOVED that car.

No point really as the air being sucked into the induction system would stuggle to get through a Nat Asp engine it just wouldn't have the oomph to suck it through if you know what I mean. You'd probably restict the airflow further and reduce the power to the engine even more.

The reason they work on turbo engines is because the air is being forced through and besides, the air that comes out of the intercooler is not as cool as the air that gets sucked in by the turbine. The turbo heats tha air up to a hight temp. The intercooler just pulls the temp down to a level where it becomes more dense again for the combustion temp. It's not "ice" cold shall we say.

 

An intercooler on a NASP would just be a blockage really and a NASP doesnt benefit from cooler air as much as a turbo does. It does help of course, but turbos heat the air, requiring an intercooler to try to restore a bit of coolness to the air. A cold air feed would be much more effective on a NASP.

Mate she was effin gorgous!!! first an second gear were just ,stupid!!! wet or dry! tyre's were chewd. BUT woefully she had to go. My work mate bought it. he wants a turbo conversion. av told him to go were i got my work done. the Famous Moto Build. they can extract MASSIVE power out of any rover engine. Hence the horrible nasty bang bang un-reliable cosworth killer maestro turbo they built. truelly amazing. i get a cold shiver down my back wen i say.......cosworth,,, brrrrrrrrrr. Hidieously un-reliable crap turbo HEAPS!!!!

 

Personally i wouldnt let moto-build within 10 miles of my car, but yes the 420 turbos are nice. My favourite Rover Turbo by far.

I'd rather have a quick mk2 420 as it is,then butcher a couple of others to make it go faster.i always liked the mk1 400 though next car might be a 600/800/mk1 400.i cant decide!

 

I like the 400 turbos because they are quicker than the 600 and 800, but arent as common as the coupe. Ive never seen another 420 turbo on the road and that suits me fine! They are cheap to.

It sure is. Was modded a bit when i got it, im slowly removing some of it as it was a wee bit to 'obvious'.
