Induction choices

I've been browsing this forum and other web sites looking at mod'ing my '03 R25. [It's a 1.6 injected auto with I believe a 52 mm throttle body as st'd]

I've already done the 'dirty airbox' mod'.

I'm going to put new piper cams in [ARKBP270H ]
and a full janspeed exhaust system [ with sport cat].

Some questions: Are vernier pulleys essential?
Do I need to upgrade the valve springs?
comments on a replacement ECU? reprogrammable?

Induction stuff - I'm undecided here.
Lots of info' on what induction kits will do - perhaps but at quite a cost!

Looking at one of these: Pipercross Viper, BMC CDA, ITG Maxogen - all expensive.

I want performance, better fuel usage and little noise.

I have read an article about using a K&N panel filter and carefully rerouting the cold air feed [bigger bore -less kinks] for a power gain proven on a r'road

Comments and advice on these points would be welcome.

Ta very much, HTR

About the cams-

Some questions: Are vernier pulleys essential? For 270 Venairs are not required for installing them but you will want them in the future to get the full potential of the cams.

Do I need to upgrade the valve springs? No not if you are going for the 270's

comments on a replacement ECU? reprogrammable? Again not essential but maybe in the future get a re-map to make all the mods work better together.

About induction- For performance you are wanting a enclosed induction kit with a RAM Air caf if possible, but you may seen slight gains with a good pannel filter (ITG) and a well placed CAF.
