Getting the CoC for an imported Rover

Hello Guys!

I'm thinking of buying a used Rover 75 in Germany, because I just love this car. For this I'll need the CoC (Certificate of Conformity). Does anyone know where I should try to get one?

One Rover service centre hear in Slovakia can get me one, but it's much more expensive than CoC's for other car brands (about €310 / 215 GPB), they said that the price went up in May almost twice, and that they get it from some Rover centre in Germany.

Also, I've seen some discussions on Euro 3 vs. Euro 4 cars, what's all that about? Are there some limits on Euro 3 ones within EU?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Hi Rado,
There is an organisation set up in the UK to provide security information to MGR owners. You can find them on www.mgrccservices.com
They charge for their services, but hopefully not as much as you've been quoted.
As a matter of interest though, are you sure you need a CoC? If the car you buy is already registered in the EU and is being re-registered in another EU country it shouldn't need one (that is certainly the case here in LT anyway). Maybe as well to check with the Slovak Registration Authority first.
Good luck.

Thank you both for your responses!

Tom, thanks for sending the link to mgrccservices.com, their price seems to be at least a little better than what I've been quoted. I'll have to check about the payment method though, I'm only used to credit cards and wire transfers (both relatively fast methods) and I know that cheques take quite long to process - I wouldn't want to wait a month or more for the CoC!

Also thank you for your suggestion regarding the need of CoC for re-registration. I'll double check to make sure, but so far everyone told me that it's required. I guess that eventhough we're now all in the EU, the laws and regulations are still so different from country to country that I would be actually surprised if I found something that would work the same way in at least 3 EU countries. :)

[EDIT]As I've been told, there have been only 2 countries in the EU requiring the CoC even for cars imported from other EU countries, but it's quite likely that Slovakia is now the only EU country requiring this. :( [/EDIT]

Thanks again,
Rado

Certifucate of conformity for Rover 45

Not sure if there is any help out there in the Rover world. I am trying to import a bog standard Rover 45 from Republic of Ireland into UK and am busily filling the relevant forms. This form is an absolute technical nightmare thats asks for literally everything possible relating to the car. Much of the info is contained within the Certifcate of conformity for the car does anybody know where I can gain sight of this magic form or does anybody out there have advice on whether I need to fill this blasted form in at all considering the car was first bought in Ireland and is only being shipped across the Irish sea. I would be interested in any info/advice on my problem---Graham

Are you sure you need this certificate?
Maybe you could phone a car importfirm and aks if it is needed. If so maybe they can help you.
Only thing I know is that you don't need it in my countrie when you import an EU registrated car.

Good luck.
