i upgraded my 214 r8 using vented disks from a 218 diesel r8,assuming you already have solid 262mm disks i think you can just go get the disks and calipers from scrappy then just bolt on,my original disks were 232mm so i had to replace the hub carrier too, which means undoing the drive shafts too,32mm or 33mm nut,i also got the the whole strut and put on lowereing springs, you could prob have the whole job done in less than a couple of hours.any 25/45 200/400 honda civic/ballade/integra though the last three are a bit scarce now,but not metro/600/800/75/accord new disks are only about ÂŁ30 a pair if you cant find anydecent disks just get the calipers

I can highly recommend the caliper refurb kit from bigred4u on ebay. The front set comes in at ÂŁ20 and has the seals for the piston and sliders, grease for the sliders, everything you need to make sure they are pukka when you put them on.

Just my opinion, but it'd be better to do a refurb on an unknown set of calipers than leave it and find you need one later. Easy enough job too, I'll talk you through it if you want...

I think my fluid needs changing as I'm pretty sure I boiled it last night.

Pedal went soft, had to push it quite far down but the brakes still worked. Could be water in the fluid I guess.

Time for some vented 262's, decent pads, and a change of fluid.

Thats brake fade, vented disks and decent pads to cure - silicone brake fluid too if you can be bothered and are feeling flush ;)

Here ya go chap... Exact same kit I got. ;)

Just stip the old sliders off, remove any rust with 00-gauge wire wool, regrease with the supplied grease and reassemble.
Use a foot pump to remove the piston. Remove rust as before. Renew seals and reassemble, use brake fluid as lubricant to aid reassembly. Its a good idea once you have the caliper stripped to give it all a damned good degrease, wash and dry. Paint all non-wearing areas and parts with smooth hammerite and allow to dry, I baked mine in the oven at 50deg for 2 hrs. Then proceed with reassembly.

They'll look brand new, as in this thread where I sold the ones I reconditioned... ;)
If the pedal goes soft that is fluid boiling.

If the pedal travel remains normal but much more pedal effort is needed to stop the car then that is pad fade.

There are 620ti calipers on my car combined with ZS180 discs. That gives you 282mm discs rather than 262's but beware as they only fit under a few 15 inch alloys.
