Now I know this debate has rumbled on and on since the TF came to fruition back in 2002 the F camp have their opinion and the Tf camp have theirs to but here's my 2p's worth

I love the F as you all know and have spent the last 2 summers attending meets in Tiny and really loving the drive ad the styling.

But then I go and get the mrs TJ a Tf 135 not a bad looking car but not a patch on Tiny

But there is something in me that kinda likes the stiffer ride I can't put my finger on the difference but it just feels more me :dunno:

So how do I get what I want ? Can I get tiny to a similar ride to TJ

(this is where I tell pendle lass to not get excited)

Tiny is not for sale I just wondered if anything can be done to stiffen her up.

a possability but is it possible?

as far as I know, it is possible (and "relatively" straight forward) to replace the standard hydragas spheres on the mgf with the units from a trophy spec mgf (assuming you can find them... rocking horse poo anyone?)

I am sure someone else will provide the specifics, but there was something about them that led to the trohpy having a much stiffer ride.
 i have heard this myself
VHS do a pack that adds the strengthening bars found in the TF, that should help a little.

See here:

Better start saving then thats quite expensive

You could also look at welding in the bracing struts that the TF has across the engine bay and behind the dash...
...these play as big a part as the suspension in giving the stiffer ride.;)
cool ta as above its quite pricy though

You could pump up the suspension with this stuff

Seriously though, it is good to hear. I thought I was the only one who liked the TF handling. It isn't perfect, but it is good.
ooh expandable foam  as for the handling it is nice maybe not to everyones taste but your right it is good. Your not alone :grouphug:

Thats a Huge bird **** on that vectra!
 hadn't noticed that before trust you Dan

Good idea bud already got full set of poly's fitted I'll have to keep my eyes out for strengthening bars

Tiny needs a stint up North...... the cold will make the ride stiffer....its true... honestly
Lol keep trying I may give in one day
????

I always felt that the TF has more of a 'racy' feel to the suspension. To me, that's the biggest difference between the two. I love the F (having previously owned one), but do have a slight preference to the TF driving experience. As per usual, it's all down to personal taste. Btw, Tiny is looking sooooo good!
Can't fault a word of that Mike how I feel love the f but the drive of the Tf is ever so slightly better.

I have got to agree. I like the handling of the F but do prefer my TFs handling although mine has the softer suspension settings over earlier TFs. The TF has a different ratio steering rack which helps as well.

I have got to say though after driving my MGF again I am loving the handling, it does tend to go round corners better than the Freelander!

I'm slowly building my F into being a semi-trackcar. My own suspension related shopping list is: TF steering rack, Polyurethane bushes, solid subframe mounts, adj. dampers, lowering knuckles and maybe a few other bits such as the stiffening kit and adding lots of lightness

If I was wanting to sharpen up a primarily road going F I'd guesstimate that you would probably get the best results by swapping in the TF steering rack (2.8 turns lock-to-lock vs. 3.2) and fitting a set of polybushes.

cool not thought about the steering rack before. Polybushes already fitted :broon:

I agree, the 160 is the better car for track. My MGF runs almost all 160 bits. The poly bushes, Bilsteins and solid sub frame mounts changed the car. The biggest change to handling was MS alloy drop links! The links were the most noticible change I had done to the F. I have changed one thing at a time before each hillclimb and the standouts have been the Toyo R888's and the droplinks. Next was MS big brake kit. Still to come is the adjustable rear suspension from Mike, the crossmember bars and individualised displacers.

Am I the only person that feels the F handles better at standard height?
