noticed a bit of coolent on the floor from the radiator today just very slightly seeping ,,,,so thought quick radweld ,,could'nt empty straight into the radiator so put it in the overflow bottle as i was doin it i was thinking SHOULD I BE DOIN THIS trouble is now instead of having a vibrant illuminus green coolent bottle its now full of grease and cack ,,,,just like you see on hgf [WHICH I KNOW IT IS'NT] ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,have i done a foolish thing or will i be ok and will the water clear up

I fear you have been foolish. The K series engine has small water ways, so radweld may narrow them down, unlikely tho. Now its in, you'd be best off getting the coolant hot so its circulated around rather than just sitting in one place imo.

I would only use it as a short term measure but it is unlikely to cause any damage, on the bottle it states not to use on Rover 825/827 models but otherwise no restrictions.

I used it once is a Peugeot 106 that had a very slight coolant drop yet no sign of a leak, the radweld product cured the leak and the car performed fine for many 1000's of miles after until it was sold.

I still say you will be fine in the short term, radweld will only seal tiny holes so its unlikely (in my opinion!) to block any of the engines waterways. Your cooling system fluid will not clear though, it will stay that colour until you flush it out and refill.

Does anyone have any solid evidence about the negative effects of sealers? I have taken the heads off a couple of engines which have used the stuff and not seen any evidence in the coolant passages at all. If it blocks small passages, I would expect it to seal up the radiator matrix, but it obviously does not.

As I understand it, sealers either work by blocking tiny holes with microscopic fibers, or they set hard when exposed to heat and air.

It will come out, but not pour out. Keep cap on expansion tank to keep negative pressure. Block rad bleed valve with somehting whilst you put the tape on and then bung it back in.

If you are that worried, jack up the front of the car as well
