EP warning light help advise needed

any ideas the car was fine before this fault and would be a shame to get rid as its a lovely car? car starts and runs but then cuts out showing the ep message and then wont start, the ecu was read and was told there are no error codes? cheers

i check ed the drain hole which was dry and clear ,then i took the seal cover over the ecu off had a look but was seemed dry, i tryed to take the ecu out but couldnt move it? so i thought reset the battery easy job! ho no it wasnt the nut was struch so hard the battery terminal snaped clean off,it seemed to easy i hope the terminal was duff and had to replace the battery, i hope the reset and new battery do the trick?

EP usually allows limited operation - excluding certain gears. Assuming this is an intermittent problem, I would suspect an electrical issue - bad contacts on the connector have been reported.

Maybe the auto box's own ECU has stored an error code. This may not be passed to main engine management system (commonly called ECU) which your garage may have read. Was it taken to a MGR service place?

Trouble is that most garages don't have the kit to 'talk' to our autoboxes, only the likes of the engine.

So they probably just read that and nothing else, then just said there's no problem.

I think a read of the autobox is required to see what fault codes it unveils.
