So it's a potential welcom to the DVA club then. Congrats on a superb choice. You may have read that I went down this route last year and I'm seriously happy. Careful choice of which kit to go for is the key.... If your aim is to ultimately crack the 200bhp then make sure the head you choose is something like the K13 kit. If your aims are not so high then aim a little lower. The important thing is to know what you're getting and what all the bits do. Verniers, for example, are an extra on the price, but for the 170ish pounds extra these are invaluable to extract the full benefit of the porting. The the cams, don't go too wild stick with 633, these have great road manners and are good for 160bhp.
Setting up is also incredibly important, Dave A is a master of this and and if you go for something like 55/35 thou of lift on 633's you'll have a very drivable car.
As you have already mentioned you'll need a decent filter and a good exhaust, if you can get yourself a 4-2-1 from someone like
www.powerspeed.co.uk and a Trophy TB will seal the fate of the engine.
One important thing which I learnt was to make sure that the chassis matched the performance of the engine. The last thing you want is for the car to be wallowing in corners because of soft suspension or to find the brakes arn't quite up to it. With the DVA kit corners come up very quickly.
So now that you have the car sorted it's time to hit the track, so register with
www.mgs-on-track.com and really get to use Dave's work for what it was meant for.
