Excellent news!! I went to see Dave myself a year ago to see about getting the engine in mine to over 200bhp....unfortunately it was quite a lot more than I'd anticipated and I ended up getting the bodykit instead....:)

well its a 200Is 1.8 non VVC (120 bhp), the work i'm getting done is due to take it up to the 145-150 mark, its mainly cams, lots of headwork and some other bits and bobs,i reckon i got an extra 10 BHP of my stainless system, decat, throttle body and filter, sultan of ping i think, got witht the same mods as mine got 130 bhp on a rolling road, so once its done fingers crossed, rollin road and 150-160 BHP heading my way!:D

So it's a potential welcom to the DVA club then. Congrats on a superb choice. You may have read that I went down this route last year and I'm seriously happy. Careful choice of which kit to go for is the key.... If your aim is to ultimately crack the 200bhp then make sure the head you choose is something like the K13 kit. If your aims are not so high then aim a little lower. The important thing is to know what you're getting and what all the bits do. Verniers, for example, are an extra on the price, but for the 170ish pounds extra these are invaluable to extract the full benefit of the porting. The the cams, don't go too wild stick with 633, these have great road manners and are good for 160bhp.

Setting up is also incredibly important, Dave A is a master of this and and if you go for something like 55/35 thou of lift on 633's you'll have a very drivable car.

As you have already mentioned you'll need a decent filter and a good exhaust, if you can get yourself a 4-2-1 from someone like www.powerspeed.co.uk and a Trophy TB will seal the fate of the engine. :)

One important thing which I learnt was to make sure that the chassis matched the performance of the engine. The last thing you want is for the car to be wallowing in corners because of soft suspension or to find the brakes arn't quite up to it. With the DVA kit corners come up very quickly.

So now that you have the car sorted it's time to hit the track, so register with www.mgs-on-track.com and really get to use Dave's work for what it was meant for.

Thanks for that, i think its the 13A kit i'm getting, well thats what dave suggested, your right i want it drivable still i'd just like the power to keep up with all these new monster BHP hot hatches, you know the 172s and Pug GTI 180, i've already got the 160 throttle body, exhaust system filter and stiffened and lowered sus so it should be a nice little sleeper soon, i'll be sure to post when its done!:D
