Does anybody think F/TF seats are uncomfortable?

I have been reading a few old magazine articles and reviews and all of them mention how uncomfortable the seats are/were during the roadtests. I have owned a TF in the past and now an F and I found both of the seats to be very comfortable; I used to drive 25K miles pa in my TF 160.

Granted I am only 5'6" tall (the average height for a lady), but I have never heard anybody complain about their seats; not even really tall drivers; time we put a stop to this nonsense I feel...

I mentioned in another thread that I've been surprised at how comfy the seats in the TF are, I'm no shortarse at 5' 10", and I have the seat almost all the way back. The furthest we've gone yet is a 200 mile round trip, and it was absolutely fine. Tina has commented on this too, but she is a shortarse :D

The old Mk 1 F seats are uncomfortable in comparison with the Mk2 F and TF seats. They are not as high backed and give less support to the back and shoulder blades.

My soft leather seats are lush, although I do have to slide down when sitting in them to make sure that my head is below the windscreen!

You can get a kit to drop the seat height down you know....

I am 5ft 11 and have no issues, but I have heard of 6ft+ people having this problem.

I think the major complaint was always that they were not low enough compared to the MX5 so you felt as if you sitting too high and not low enough to get the feeling of being in a sports car.

But I know from experience that the Mazda MX5 Mk3 (2005-2009) seats were terribly uncomfortable, not so much in inducing back pain but in inducing leg ache, although Mazda did address that by equipping the seats with height adjusters from 2008. The comfort of the TF with more legroom in both footwells was what induced me to buy a TF after only 4 months with the MX5.

Now feeling like a short arse on finding out I am average height for a lady...

I took my 85 year old Dad from Southend to Brighton to see relitives in a mk1 F, he used to own a MX5 mk2 and the comment was this car (MGF) has comfy seats oh they are cream leather and in very good condition. He was most imprest even showed it to his frends.

I've found my F pretty comfy overall, done a couple of hundred miles and felt no worse for it.

I would say if you are of a certain height the steering wheel does hit your left leg and you have to adopt a slighlty odd position. At least I do. But generally thats fine once you're used to it.

I've had F seats, and now I have TF seats - found both of them very comfortable. The TF seats are slightly lower, so I don't fnd myself having to either slump to look under or telescope my neck to see over the windscreen surround - I 'm a bit lengthy for a girl.

Got lots more room behind the TF seats - the backs are much less substantial than the F ones - I can fit all sorts of junk down there now!

The leather seats in my MGF are softer than the TF ones but the seat base is at more of an angle in relation to the floor, the TF seats have a flatter base.

I find sometimes after a long drive in the TF that my right leg gets a bit uncomfortable but moving it a bit stops that.

I had the seat lowering kit on the drivers seat and it made the world of difference; i never thought so untill i got into the passenger side....

As for people complaining about the seats; I wonder if it was the suspension instead....?

The only thing that I found was after 3+ weeks touring around Italy my right leg/knee was a bit sore. Never had this problem since fitting cruise control. It only effects me over verrrry long journeys, which would probably be the same for most cars.

Have recently swapped my Mk1 half leathers for a set of TF alcntara/leather ones and the difference is immense. Not that the mk1 seats were uncomfortable, but in comparrison didn't offer the same degree of support as said earlier.

I am a pretty average 5 foot 11, with a german style behind (as those of you who know me will attest to!!) and can honestly say that I have never felt uncomfortable in mine.

Just the petty minded motoring Journos knocking a great little car just because it is British.

Dont worry you two, the average female height in the uk is 5'4" and the average male is 5'9" so your the perfect height to be bisexual :)

I think the seats in a TF are fine, what I would have issue iwth are the head rests. They move up and down easily enough but there is no tilt variation.

On long journeys I'd love to rest my head back to take some strain off my neck but its impossible to do with these rests. Yes I know they are there to stop whiplash in an accident but if they help you concentrate on the road by resting your neck, rather than you concentrating on the developing neck ache, then that is a good thing.

My MK1 F seats were pretty rubbish and uncomfy with poor back and shoulder support. The TF seats I have are much better, more padding and a straight back all the way up. It could be partly down to the F seats being old and saggy as they are 13 years and 120k miles old though. I've never sat in a pair of good low mileage F seats to compare like for like.

Ahemmmmm young man, back and shoulder support is fine here, we have ample padding and very straight backs, and I have yet to meet a 13 year old who is old and saggy, maybe you should try the low mileage, couple of owners models, before basing your findings on the old knackers, desperate for a re-furb job ...:)

Im 6`2" with a bit of a dodgy back. My F is pretty low milage really at 45K & the seats werent too bad but last year I swapped to TF seats from a 26K 03 car, I can really tell the difference, much more supportive, deffinatly worth changing.

I'm 6'3" and I have MK1 leather seats. Car has done just under 80k and I do a 22 mile commute twice a day. Not a huge distance but I don't feel they are uncomfortable in the slightest. Although to get into my car I do need to put my left foot on the clutch as I'm climbing in to fit my leg under the steering wheel.

My seats are so comfy, never had a problem at all! I drive a lot of long distance runs regularly and my TF is my every day car (my only car!) and even after a 4 hours drive I don;t feel achy or stiff in any way. I did spend almost 4 hours in a VW Eos driving to Carl and Kirst's wedding in Scunthorpe this weekend (my friend drove his car up ) and I felt so uncomfortable after just a couple of hours driving.
