Hello guys,as you will have seen from my previous post,s.Well this enigma carries on.I,ve just had it confirmed the all my air intake system is from an isuzu made+off a monterey td.except my truck is a 2.2 petrol ecotec,Can anybody out there explain this,my theory is some enthusiast(mechanical engineer from the 50,s) has had a play around and thinks he knew what he was doing, but we never would.my air sytem is the all in one+we cannot find the maf,.any ideas?..i,ve got to replace the IAT sensor(on order)where it looks where the maf should have been.by the way loads of electrics have been renewed.Jst to recap for 1st time readers of this.my truck was driving ok on flat but as soon as she got warm, driven underload/uphill,she would struggle like hell cut (although immediate restart)but as soon as i removed the faulty IAT sensor,She runs fine but is drinking like a fish.also my rad fans run permanantly with no faulty switch/sensor anywhere to be seen,in order to renew.has anybody ever come accross this sort of thing before, please your thoughts ideas would be most appreciated.sully

Take a closer look at your engine.

Vauxhall used to raid the GM parts bin very often which resulted in many Isuzu engined vauxhalls. Are you sure the engine you have is not just a re-badged Isuzu lump? (just like Rover did with the D series Honda engines).

Pop some pics up of your engine bay and I'll have a ganders :)

Hi my man and thank,s for the offer..but i have not long come back from a REAL mechanic, not unlike some cowboys i,ve come across in my home town...my engine+air intake system is all petrol...no diesel bits/bobs.although the IAT sensor has still got to be replaced, the other cause to my problem was wait for it.. An Air leak!!,this along with the IAT,is sending my managent system into a giddy fit (fans staying on permanent etc etc)So apart from them couple of problems, she,s been given a clean bill of health and she,s booked in with him next week to find this little air problem..alls well that ends well.now i just gotta shift that complete air system including maf .cheer,s+thank,s for those who helped.sully

IBC and GM (Vauxhall) have always had a long standing relationship as far as I am aware.

I think most engine found in Vauxhalls are eithe rIsuzu or Isuzu based certainly used to be the case with the Derv powerplants in older Vauxhall's anyway.

Hi,
If it were "some enthusiast mechanical engineer from the 50,s" it would probably have been done o.k.
Maybe it was a backstreet chav and a bodge up job of two car's possibly nicked the parts from another unfortunate chap.....

As for the parts, as has been stated earlier, the older Vauxhall diesels did use loads of Isuzu parts, as yours is petrol this is obviously your problem if it were me i would try looking round the breakers yards.

Isuzu built Wolsley cars in the 1930's i think......
