why would you want to redline in 4th anyway, that'll kill your motorway economy

 

yeh, it red lines in 1st 2nd 3rd, but struggles to get there in 4th, never got to it in 5th, lol.

lol, i don't do it regularly, just for leaving other cars.

I think he's refering to the above situation, not all the time.
Maybe your air fliter could do with a change.

 

yeh, i might consider that, any suggestion of a good place?? what kind of filter can fit?
do sport (ie k&n) make a difference at all??

i've just looked at the stats on the focus, and i guess it must have been a 1.8, not a 1.6, the speed i pulled away from it.

Just come across this thread... Red-line in 4th? That (or even anything approaching it) is pretty damn quick, and certainly likely to be over the speed limit for pretty much any road in this fair land... All I can say is that hope it was a private track...

Sorry to sound like a nag, but seeing posts like this just makes me even more wary of others on the road. Driving doctors, nurses and patients around the country certainly does something for one's road attitude!

 

ok so we asume its a privet road then.

if its not making the power its proberly runing lean meaning that the ecu thinks somethings wronge so its useing a fail safe fuleing level so you are only noticesing it at top end. time to get it on a T4 and see what the ECu is saying

redline in 4th is the only way to easily hit top speed.. this may give you a clue to the type of speeds lol

 

Redlining in 1st or 2nd won't necessarily take you over the speed limit. I do it all the time.

 

depends where you drive lol.. some areas have a 20mph limit, redline in 1st will take you over this.. 2nd can take you over the 40mph limit..

the speed is a side issue which is farnkly between chewy and the cops, i know no one condones speeding but it rather anoying that this tread has turned in to a speeding row when the main point is that his car dose have a proberlem shich need to be fixed

 

The car needs sorting mate, I can redline in 4th/115mph IIRC. However is 5th it wont go much above 4500rpm/ 125mph

 

mines doing the same needs checking Map sensors not reading

 

i can get to about 6000rpm quite easily, but then it wont move up hardly at all, takes absolutely ages, talking minutes, really weird, wot u mean by tht williams??

Fuelling? Get an uprated pump? I'm not a mechanic .

I work in shipley, small engineering firm.

Might have seen you i'm not sure. Mines nightfire red one made to look pretty standard, and my mate has one too with a chavvy bonnet vent and tsw pace alloys in flame red. Both have an interesting exhaust sound, you can't miss us lol. If you see either of us out just flash at us.

I'd recomend a good service, air filter ect ect and if that doesn't help, like others say its a matter of seeing if its one of the sensors.

i changed the oil last week, replaced the air filter yesterday, thats why im confused, think it must be a sensor, whats the best way to deal with that??

haedshox, one of you doesnt have hydraulics do you?, i met someone in mcdonalds car park in skipton who had hyraulics, his was a 1.4 tho, you both from skipton then?
