look if u wanna eat chalk go and discuss in on a chalk forum or summit.

the differances betweent the engines in the ZR is simple. The throttle body. upgrade to the 48mm metal one and u will go from 83bhp to 103bhp. the springs and dampers are stiffer on the ZR. i think it also adds the front anti-roll bar. it uses better bushes and wider wheels. the steering is also sharper on the ZR

The ZR is basically a tuned 25 with uprated springs, dampers, steering, cluch setup, anti rollbar, wheels, gearbox, airodynamics and on the 160 model it is tuned even more including close ratio gearbox, break upgrade.

So to answer your question yes the ZR is diffrent to the ZR.

Basically the ZR was developed for the person who enjoys a more sporty drive to a relaxed and refined drive its the same with all of the models (45,75, 75 Estate) are refined where as the (ZS,ZT,ZT-T) are the hardcore versions.

You 're a bit confused unfortunately...because YOU brought up chalk to the discussion.....so go look for the a.m. forum...

Also, you got it all wrong....!!! the 25 does come with 103 bhp and the 48mm TB. Also, even the older models with the 83 bhp were fitted with 48mm TB. The only difference was that they did not open fully...

So please leave the guru stuff for the gurus and chalk and cheese outside the forum....ang get better manners...

No problem mate glad I could help, the reason I know these things is also due to me having a 52 reg 83bhp Rover 25 iL a 53 reg 83bhp Rover 25 impression s, and now I got the new shape ZR 105 and I like the ZR so much more than the 25 it just feels so rite for me, not that the 25 was a bad car just that the ZR is so much more my kinda of car sharp and responsive.

Another point is the ZR sits 25mm lower than the Rover 25

When the MG 'Z' cars were developed, they changed so many little things on the mechanical side. The results were that the cars felt totally different.

Even today, the MG ZS is regarded as one of the finest handling cars you can buy. Not bad for a basic design that goes back to the mid-1990s.

So although the cars look similar to the Rovers, they are quite different animals to drive.

I was fortunate enough to drive an mark 1 MG ZT 1.8T the other day; I couldn't believe how different it felt to my Rover 75. It felt like I was driving a totally different car, rather than the same car with two different setups.

The MG is TOTALLY different car - it is basically the Rover 25 fitted with a Tunned Super-charged 351 Mustang engine, rear-wheel drive along with uprated suspension, braking system and electronic line-lock as standard. The body kit was neccessary to stop the cars taking off when used on the drag-strip! The interiors have been totally stripped out to lighten the car and is very spartan inside and has no radio as you wouldn't hear it over the lake-pipes..

...it also has MG stickers on the steering wheel..

IMO the main difference is the suspension and the badge, forget about the cosmetics they do nowt.
Drop a 25 and change it's suspension set up and put ZR 17's on and it more or less becomes a ZR.
Steering too. My 53 reg ZR has much sharper, quicker, more direct steering than my previous 51 reg 25. The 25 steering felt heavily damped. Solid and dull.

Hmmm so you know people eat cheese with apple/or any selected fruit...do some people actually eat it with chalk? :run!:

Hmmm, I like the looks of the ZR, but I like the looks of the 25. I think you have to appreciate the looks on the context of the car. I would say...the 25 is exceedingly smart (dinner jacket, well combed hair), while the ZR is sexyyyyyy.

Difference between 75 and ZT

Springs
Dampers
Wheels
suspension mounts
subframe mounts
tuned steering rack
Gearbox ratios
Different body and interior design

now the ZT 190 have the additional changes - also some items apply to the higher version of other models - ZR 160, ZS180
Revised inlet
Different cams
ECU
Uprated cooling system incl. oil cooler
Bigger brakes

All in all a much better effort from the 80s MGs!!

God I wish they'd made the ZR look like that in 2001 - imagine the sales.

Was behind a dealership model today, it was on trade plates and they were clearly filling up with fuel for a sale - to say the 25 body is 10 years old, it truly is a handsome car - such a waste to lose it.
