I just had a thought after reading a couple of posts on here, and I was wondering whether I was the only person to drive my MG like a wet weekend? I read about people saying how they've had problems getting the revs to go over 5k (or something like that) and how loads of you guys and gals race them about, and wanting to increase the power etc?

I seem to be the only person whos car rarely goes over 3000revs and certainly never over 4000. I drive it to go out and enjoy a nice chilled drive round the countryside and just take my time with things.

Time & a place for everything.

Motorways: Anything much over 75mph too noisy for long distances.

Built up areas: Sometimes 20mph is too fast for safety especially when schools are coming out.

BUT when on holiday: Alpine or Pyreneean passes: 6500 rpm between bends every time!!!!

Love the VVC as it's so flexible at low revs but so willing to rev once above 4000 rpm.

What's the point of having a sports car if you don't rev it past 4k?
The K engine thrives on revs esp. the vvc & when you have the opportunity to floor it now & again, that's when a big grin appears on your face!
I'm not talking of M/Way driving, but using the revs. to overtake slower traffic on minor roads.
By the way I am 77 so am no boy racer.

to be honest.. a fun drive is only partly about the car :sofa:.

The road, the weather, the company, and the adventure are what does it for me. For instance, I'd rather be driving around the coast on clear night with a full moon >> in a golf << than stuck in traffic in my F.

All that said, feeling the wind through what remains of my glorious mane certainly helps!

One word - Roadcraft.

I drive everything to this style, be it my 26 tonne crane truck, car or shopping trolley.

It's not about balls out speed but about being progressive.

Im glad to see im not the only one,)! For me with cars its more about "being able to if you want to" more than doing it.

For example, we used to own a BMW (which we got rid of) and id drive that at 50mph and ppl would possibly be stuck behind me, but I could drive it at 150mph if I wanted to. I have a convertible because I can put the roof down if I want to, not because I put it up and down like a tart does her knickers. Make sense?

For me I get so much pleasure dawdling along with the roof down, even if I do get cars thundering past me. I love my TF.
