it is so funny... we get 10 times less salary and twice the prices for parts.. and 10 times worse roads so we could buy parts more often :0

Hi out2grass,

Not sure if the pollen filter will cure the problem, I have the same problem and this is right after an Inspection service where I replaced the pollen filter.

My previous car was an Astra and I had the same problem with the A/C from new causing my kids to feel ill whenever used and turned off! It went back to the dealer a few times but they just inserted an air freshener into the ducting, not a real fix!

A piece of advice I was given by one engineer was that the main cause is a lack of Air-Con use in the winter, eg. running on economy (something I do myself). Apart from the bacteria build up, hence the smell, it can also cause problems with seals drying out and loss of refrigerant. He advised me to try and 'exercise' the air-con at least once a week! Not sure if this was correct but it seemed to help after the system was cleaned.

Anywhere except where it is, Boot, Inside cabin, somewhere warm and dry. No let's put it where we know it will get absolutely soaked and fail, then we can sell bucket loads of replacements at 1K a time. Wonder who thought that one up?

I guess an englishman, strange considering you get so much rain over there,but the problem i have is ice & slush freezing at the bottom of the radiator holding the cooling fan solid, had to blank the bottom air intake off to stop it coming in...

Another thing that can cause nasty smelling Air Cons is if you smoke in the car with it on. Then again the whole car will smell too.

So glad I don't have that problem :xmas: Brrrrrrrr :xmas: That sort of thing should have been designed out as a climate specific option.

Just changed the pollen filter and used CarCare spay. all now seems OK apart from cut arm. The old pollen filter was very dirty.

Yes Matl I know you did, but I think its just frustation, when you can't the filter back in. Still saved money anyway, the skin will grow back , money won't.

Right next to the BCU behind the glove box would have been OK, even so a nuisance to get to.

you need to get one of those freshners from halfords. set it off in the car with aircon running close doors and leave it for 5 mins.

What air freshener is it from Halfords "that you set off" as mine is slightly smelly with the aircon on.
