ABS and Handbrake Lights on randomly

The ZS has started exhibiting a random fault where on occasions the ABS light and Handbrake lights come on together. May stay on for 5 minutes or for the rest of the day.

Will be fine if left off for a while.

Any ideas before I go checking resistance on the sensors or the handbrake linkages etc?

Had same problem with a ZR, it was handbrake linkerage seized not fully releasing the handbrake also a brake pads stuck in place on front causing partial siezure, the ABS light was flickering on and off and the handbrake warning light would not go completely off as the cable was pushing the handbrake leave back up because of the siezure, was completly freed off the problems went away

Thats along the lines of what I am thinking. Have replaced the rear pads and they are nice and free. Handbrake linkage was next on the list to look at.

Been having the same problem my 2002 45.

Lights come on during driving, if you stop and restart they extinguish as normal, not on all the time, coming on periodically.

Did a visual check of pads, discs, fluid levels and reluctor rings and they are all fine. Even took the car to two independent garages who couldn't find any evidence of problems with the brakes or the braking system itself. Both recommended a diagnostic check on the ABS sensors which is my next port of call (need to wait a week as garage is fully booked). Have checked the connections etc and they are fine so may take the wheels off to have a look at the sensors themselves.

Mate suggested taking out the ABS fuse for the time being but if I so do both the ABS and Brake Warning Lights illuminate, don't think its a fault as my dads 54 plate ZS does the same as do a few others after reading these and other forums.......
