Okay have you got a name for your 75/ZT?

What is it and why?

Please vote on the poll your choice on naming cars.

Simon

I'll start off as this is the forst time I have given my car a name.

It is called Panthro as its Black and stealth like and menacing apparently, so came the thought of it being like a Black panther, I used to like watching Thundercats and panthro was one of the cats names and seemed like a good idea at the time.

As you know Simon, I've named mine connie, it's a bit obvious I know. It's the first time I've named a car - it happened because one of my daughter's said it looked an angry car (because of the shape of the headlamps - thought it was frowning) and it had to be male. I always think of cars being female and said she'd upset connie and the name stuck.

Just as an aside the first time the same daughter saw a Fiat Multipla she called it the car with the droopy boobs :naughty:

Cheers

LOL the MK1 does look kinda angry now you mention it.

Hate the Multipla full stop

Funny, have you seen old episodes of thundercats on youtube? I too thought it was menacing and cool but it turns out it was all just very camp.
Thundercats was very camp you are correct, but I think the car looks like a black panther stealthy etc, I was only thinking about TC's the other day and thought the name sounded better than calling it The Black Panther or just Panther, and the only reference was they were cats, so it seems my cars tough but a little ghey!! Ooops.

I can only imagine Flyers response to that!!

Anyway my reason for choosing other:
None apply, I thing its fine if you want to name a car but the car NEEDS to have little personality traits that other cars dont have to warrant a name, it needs to be an individual. that and if I ever named a car Id be sad to see it go. I still miss the way I could never get 1st on cold days in my 03 Fiesta

I try to give my cars a name with the first letter of the make such as my Rover 200 was Rebekah, my Rover Coupe was Rachel, my VW Golf was Valerie, my MG ZS which never got a name for some reason, my Rover 600 which was Rebekah again and now my MG ZT is called Megan!

my cars called roary the rover (dont laugh) my 4 year old daughter named it, mildly better than dora the alfa 156, fifi the ford probe, boots the bmw, swiper the terrano and wiggly the alfa gtv, can you see the theme here? she seems to have taken naming the cars as her job

Awww letting your daughter name the cars. I hope she will be driving MGR's when she is old enough??:dddc:

My mates 5 yr old son says my car looks like a limo and when I asked him (without prompting an aswer) what car he will drive when hes older his answer was "A Rover" bless him. Didn't have the heart to tell him by the time hes old enough unless MG don't start bringing out new models he may not have a choice.

Kids really do say the funniest things sometimes.

i have no choice, every car i have owned so far she has named, it was most embarassing when she anounces to a group of well built 6ft tall drivers that daddys car a 2.5l alfa 156 is called dora, my face dropped :eek:mg:and i was the subject of mickey taking for weeks,

Call mine the Tourer for obvious reasons as when I bought it I had about 6 P6V8s which I referred to by their letters of registration,

Now it really depends on my mood, sometimes "The Bird" as that is within its registration, like it because the car always reminds me of being in an aircraft, comfort & smooth passage
This is no run of the mill hack by anymeans!

I have had names for some cars in the past which usually involves the car's colour, but this has to come about in the first week of ownership or it doesn't happen at all.

My previous car was called 'Silver Sue' in memory of a dear friend who died unexpectantly two days after I bought it. (so that's cheery then)

My 75 remains nameless as nothing occured in the first week to bring forth a name..... just as well on recent form.
Besides, what do you do with 'moonstone' ? Don't answer that. ; )

If I was going to give my ZT a name it would be one of the following:

If it's a girl:

Zeitia ZT, Or if I ever had to have new pistons maybe 'Zsa-Zsa Rebore'

If it's a boy:

Arthur. However I did know a bloke once who named his mini metro 'Jason', turned out he was gay.

Are there any straight blokes who've named their car with a male moniker? Or is it strictly girls names?

I have been trying to come up with a name for my 75 for some time but nothing springs to mind, especially from the Reg number (W778 UEO) :(

I did however name my Medion sat nav a couple of years back while i had my Focus, The first long run i took with it was a trip to Bovington Tank museum (Tank Fest..yaaay!), a 500 mile round trip and it took me there and back without a single wrong turn!
This earned it the name "Mother" because they always say "Mother is never wrong" & "Always listen to your Mother" :D

My sat nav was named Sally by the "management", because of the female voice used, but when I updated the software to a newer version the voice was no longer avaliable, she didn't like any of the female options - so we now have a BBC announcer type voice guide us!
