why do u want to anyway the std one is good enuff for up to 260bhp.

I wouldnt want to put 260hp through a std PG1 box !

The turbos are reknowned for killing the torsen equipped boxes - let alone std ones!

I have just bought a coupe turbo on sunday, and I am having the box out this weekend to replace all the bearings with steel caged ones - just so I dont kill the diff if the bearings were to go.

ok..the reason why i asked (which is what i should've put in the original post) is that i want to turbo the VI i know it can be done, but i was wondering if the other options of just installing an already existing turbo motor would make more sense..hence the "gearbox mating" issue...anyone done it? or can guide to a site that i can get more info? (And please dont tell me that no one has attempted to turbo the VI b4...)

From bookatrack:

Rover 220 GSI Turbo - a cheap quick, but unreliable car. Having taken one on Cadwell park i with surprised to easily be able to overtake Lotus Elises and Caterham 7's, with just a few modifiaction's,a bleedvalve running 15PSI, lowering springs and shocks and stainless steel exhaust -under ÂŁ500 worth. Handling was helped due to lower ride height and 17'' wheels. The worst part of this car is the engine, running anything more than 250 BHP it is not reliable! I had 3 in mine in 1yr. The head can go easily, and if prolonged circiut use so can the piston's. In all a cheaper quicker option than a RS Turbo, but not perfect!
3 in one year???
