k series engones usually dont like it if you remove the cat, it likes the back pressure to keep the gasses flowing

is your cone filter right next to the engine? (common place is to put it where the air box was) this will give you less power than if you hadnt bothered, put it someware low down with a flow of fresh air, but wont get wet if you hit a puddle / it rains

nope ive checked head gasket signs well u can see why i got a bit peed off thou manifold gasket? how would that make a difference?
lumpiness could be caused by loads tbh.

my prime suspects would be :

spark plugs
air filter (an open cone wouldnt rob you of THAT much, you should still skin a 1.4 alive)
coil packs
or inlet manifold gasket leaking. do you lose a small amount of coolant?

A decat definately loses power, I have a vvc in my 200, I dropped the cat off and fitted a straight pipe and it was all noise and no power, my pals 1.6 metro kept up, as soon as I fitted the cat again it left the 1.6 metro standing. put your cat back on ;)

if you find out why your car is lumpy let me know, mine has become lumpy over the last 3 days, I've recently fitted a FSE fuel pressure regulator with and alloy fuel rail and it's only developed since then so maybe I've done something wrong.

really if u put fuel rail on and fpr it needs mapping as the fueling changes

Remove the FSE as they are pointless on these cars unless you have a fuel pump which has had it and can't reach the required pressure. Highly unlikely.

All that will be happening is that the lamda sensor will see the extra fuelling and the ECU will shorted the injector duty cycle. Basically cutting back the fuel to where it should be.

FSE's have pretty much been irrelevant since we moved away from carbs.

I had it sitting there and it cost me bugger all, its set at the same pressure as a standard FPR so I didn't think there would be any harm in fitting it tbh. If that's causing my problems though then I'll remove it as it makes no difference.
There is only 1 other thing I can find with the car that maybe causing my lump idle... I removed the inlet pipe to the TB and put my hand on the TB and the car still idles, it sucks very hard on my hand and idles at very very low revs but I dont think it should idle at all with no air :/

Edit: there's no extra fuel going through it's set at the same pressure, I was told on another forum by a few people that the std regulators don't tend to stick at the right pressure and vary +/- 0.2 psi whereas the fse will hold the pressure it's set at.

Standard ones are as accurate at holding pressure as the FSE. The only reason anyone used them was if when checked with a wide band lamda they were running lean as it wasn't meeting spec.

This is a potential issue for highly tuned K16's but is pretty rare. Mainly a batch of 2001 cars seemed to have suffered.
